Chesska
Question. She lights fires in the dark, but is it possible she might be unable to light it in time before the night monster eats her?
qwerm
yep, she only does her little fire thing if you stay still long enough for her character to make a fire each time, if you keep moving, she'll get eaten.stay still, OR ir you HAVE to move, try moving AFTER the little fire starts up, though I haven't even used her myself, others have said it's best to sit still and let her fire habits do their thing. YuuTang
I'm pretty sure she makes the fires even as she is moving, and the intervals between her little fires are just short enough so that the night monster will not be able to attack you, although it will get close. From my experience using Willow, I don't think she can die from the night monster. Careful though, she starts forest fire very VERY easily. So if you have a self-planted grass, twig, tree, or berry farm I suggest you clear the surrounding area of any trees or "shrubbury" to ensure a forest fire doesn't spread to your camp unintentionally. pacovf
From my short experience with her, she doesn't seem to be able to die from the Grue, even when moving... but if she takes to long to create a flame, you will hear It. It's rather unnerving. And yeah, don't ever wander around your camp without a torch, or she will lit everything on fire. It's okay if you don't mind causing gigantic forest fires, though. All in all, considering the tiny amount of light the flame produces when it doesn't spread, and the fact that it doesn't last very long, Willow's only advantages are the first one-three days, since she can do some basic things at night without a campfire (I think you'll still need one for cooking, though), such as mining or stealing tallbird eggs, since you can't set them on fire. DvS-Diablo
I've played as Willow for quick some time and as Yuutang has said she places her fire down even if you're moving and right before the grue attacks you. However it is possible to be killed because the grue has hit me once. Granted its only happened once so it's extremely rare it is possible. Willow only places her fire down in total darkness. I believe the reason I got hit was because I was weaving between my fireplace and into darkness and it threw the timing off somehow.
Chesska
To be honest, I play as her because I like playing female characters and I haven't unlocked any others yet.Thought I have to admit I have enjoyed abusing her ability to survive nights essentially resource-free. YuuTang
What would Willow be if she could light stuff on fire. Or better yet, what would all us of be if we couldn't light stuff on fire? 0.o Deep shiit right here! Could it be said that Willow is the symbolic embodiment of our neanderthal ancestors who "ignited" the technological fuse that has led us to this pyroclastic combustion that we call the modern age? And is this not the reason why Willow cannot die to the Darkness? Is this possibly a hidden statement, a metaphorical foresight on the nearing, but ever-so-longly anticipated question of Earth's empheral prophecy? I'm onto you Klei, I see what you did here! Naipseht
Willow, while not having physical invincibility to the Night Monster (In other words, if you hacked the game to force the Night Monster to continually attack Willow regardless of light, she would die.), with the game as it currently is, Willow will always light a fire before the Night Monster can attack her. You may hear the roar of the Night Monster, but when she lights the fire, she will say, "I'm not afraid of you!" possibly indicating that Willow has some connection to the Night Monster. TurboSax
You may hear the roar of the Night Monster, but when she lights the fire, she will say, "I'm not afraid of you!" possibly indicating that Willow has some connection to the Night Monster. That, or she's immune to it in several ways just by her nature, since she's an unhinged pyromaniac (and by extension a light-maker), as well as unusually cruel and dark. She doesn't seem to know it personally in any way, but her partial insanity plus her somewhat evil morality means she typically doesn't fear other "dark" things.
