When Bees attack

So new game for me- playing Wendy of course.I found a natural hive in a pig settlement. Results= hilarious. I should have left it there. Free honey whilst they do the work.Now I have a bee hive- man made of course.Problem- the bees attack me.Is there a way to placate them? If I kill them will the hive be empty?How does that game mechanic work?I dont want to kill off my bees. Honey is delicious.

Bees keep respawning from the bee box so the best way to farm honey is to kill all the bees

I for one always thought that bees shouldn't be aggressive. That makes even more sense when we are talking about honey bees. But that's just me...

From what I gathered (honey) when you attack a bee, a bunch of them beetches come out of the hive and attack you. Same happens when you harvest the honey. It doesn't matter if you kill all the bees, as they'll keep on spawning and generating honey. They are noisier than a field full of fly-revolving piles of manure.

Actually it is possible to harvest honey without getting hurt, just wait until all the bees fly away to gather honey, then when you harvest it they won't pop out and attack you.

I thought collecting at night would help. Negative. Made it MORE dangerous. I had to run AND stay in the light. Was an interesting series of laps around my camp fire.

Aren't bee's afraid of smoke? Or at least confused by it? Perhaps it should be that if you are carrying a torch the bees stay away from you.Or perhaps one could build a protective hat with grass and silk, like the real ones, that cover your entire head?

@Toaster Fu: YES!! Smoke the bee to the face and it gets high and calm, just chillying with it's bee-bros feeling floaty and seeing bright shiny colors... get those damn bastards stoned and take all their stuff, it works every time.

I was hoping that the smoke aspect might get worked into a later update. Make build tool- bee smoker? So you can approach both wild hives and built ones without being attacked?

Build your bee house on the island with all the beefalo. They'll kill all the bees living tons of honey on the ground, and make the hive safe for gathering even more. I more than I enough. Maybe a honey effigy...

the bees never attack me... but i never harvest the box. i just wait for my pig to kill a couple of bees and i get honey... then he gets killed and i get meat... I just watch the whole thing.
