Omry
So my sister and I wanted to play don't starve together ever since we heard about it, i had the game for like 6 months now and she planned to buy it when there was a discount, we bought the game at about 5.00$, now here is the question, the game is now in my steam inventory, if i give her the game AFTER the game has been handed out to all the owners of don't starve, will she need to buy don't starve together for 5 dollars?, if you still didnt understand what i mean i simplified it if i give her the don't starve game after the dst got handed to all the guys that bought don't starve, will she automatically get don't starve together or will she have to buy it for 5.00$ Thanks. Hellkitty
Well my question is. Why don't you just give it to her now? xD But I'm not really sure of the answer, so I can't say one way or the other. Sorry! But now I am curious as well Edit: Although, it technically was bought prior to release. So...Another Edit: But it's not really "owned", just in possession? lol Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/46105-help-with-a-simple-question/#findComment-583861 Share on other sites
The Letter W
I think I understand what you're asking. The December 15th deadline is for people who signed up for the closed beta back in what was it... August? Somewhere back there. After that, they'll be releasing the Frontier Pack which will allow people to buy into the still beta for $5. When the game is completed, all current owners of Don't Starve will receive Don't Starve Together for free. The Frontier Pack is just a way to get into it before the official release. dotsnake
You can give it to her any day of the week, and the problem still remains, you will have to pay $5 when the beta comes out on steam on December 15 IF you want it sooner. HOWEVER, when the multiplayer is released (not sure when), anyone that has the full game (you and your sister) will get the multiplayer for free. imsomony
I've been curious about this as well. Sorry to call on you directly like this, but @JoeW, @SethR, can you clarify? If someone has been gifted Don't Starve, but has not yet installed it to their Steam library by the time DST is released as a free expansion to current owners... what will happen for the gift recipient? Will they need to buy DST separately, since they didn't have it installed at the time of the free release? Or will DST be automatically given to them when they finally do install the game? rezecib
@Omry,@imsomony, Based on the update today, I think the behavior will be that if he gives it to her before DST releases, she will get it, but if he gives it to her afterwards, she won't. imsomony
@rezecib, I've suspected that would be the case... it's certainly sounded like it, but I don't think I've seen this specific scenario laid out and answered yet. It does seem though, especially since the current update, that someone who waits to activate the game in their library until post-DST-release will end up needing to buy DST separately.
