Meat Egiffy: Possible overuse?

Recommended Posts

Just now I got the idea how to overuse meat egiffy.

Let's say you and your friends survived quite a long time and you gathered a lot of ingredients for about 10 meat egiffies. Instead of creating them by yourselves you ask one of your other friends (who wasn't playing with you) to come on the server and craft all of them... or at least until he dies. Then he logs out and never comes back. That is until you run out of the egiffies.

My solution for that would be limiting the amount of meat egiffies per player. I would suggest that each player would be able to create 2 meat egiffies with no health penalty. Why no penalty? I have 2 reasons:

1. If the actual death system will stay (1/3 max health drained for everyone per player death) then draining even more total health would make meat egiffy the worst ressurection option and nobody would use it.

2. Meat egiffy could be used by some stranger and when you die you will be raging that someone stole your ressurection item. (It might be fixed by adding option who can be ressurected.)

What do you think of my solution? I guess it's fair enough for DST.

I think currently meat effigies are not tied to any player, so I don't think it subtracts 30 max health. I'm actually okay with this. The 30 max health penalty of meat effigies in single player felt largely symbolic on any character except Maxwell.

So I don't think there need to be any further tweaks to meat effigies, specifically, although I've got my gripes about the current death system.

If one would do that he could just play singleplayer with cheat codes enabled.

Good point, let the cheaters cheat, I mean, this is not an rpg game that you try to get to the top, if you cheat you only ruin your own challnge, have fun with that.

but well, somebody will take the penalty and someone else will be using the meat effigy, dont you have any problem with that?

No, nobody will have a penalty.

See my "I'll wait for the game to be personally tested first before speculating on what I haven't personally tried" reply.

Anytime anybody starts anything with wild speculation :)

But honestly, it's almost always something plain like "I'll wait for us to have more info first before listing my opinion." Nothing clever or cutesy or parody or even innately funny like I can do.

Ah, I could swear you referred to it in another thread, and was wondering if you were talking about a specific post that you had made or something.

Whoever makes the meat effigy should have to pay the price, and is also auto-revived at the effigy when they die (assuming they aren't wearing an amulet) while other players turn into ghosts.

The most efficient way to have effigies is to have the health cost concentrated on a player who does a lot of farming/base maintenance while the other players focus on fighting/foraging.  -60 health when you're not at risk isn't as important as when you're going to be fighting.

I mostly agree with you :encouragement:
