Kenny1889
I already said that once, but it would be so great, if everybody had cut-scenes at the start of the game (when you pick a character for the first time), Wilson would have "Forbidden knowledge", and Maxwell "Final Act"! Parrotoss
I'm for more backstory, but I'm afraid if done too deeply or in-depth, many personalities and understanding of characters may be ruined for many fans. For example, some people like to pair Wilson and Willow as a couple--story pops up saying they are siblings or something--awkwardness up the wall! You can't please everybody, but if the story becomes not shrouded in mystery, people may find less inclination to stay invested in the game and fanworks. Just sayin. It's a double edged sword. Having details on how Wes ended up angering Maxwell would be fun.Or what Woodie did to warrant a bit from a beaver, yah?Maybe Willow was exalted by her family to become a nun, resented the matter, and burned the convent down? Rocky Springs
Ohhh, it's a very frail subject, really. On one hand, I'd love to know more about the characters -- because I draw comics, that's one, and two -- just because, pretty much like @MycoLogical, I WANT TO KNOW. I don't mind reading fan-made backstories, butlet's face it --They are LAME in 95% cases. Horrible and made of fail. And I can't really say if my versions are any better. So if Klei decide to write the backstories down, -- even if it breaks my comic to pieces -- I'll accept it with a heartbeat. Between canon and fanon, I always choose canon. On the other hand, looking carefully we may find out that there is, in fact, plenty of information about the characters we can find -- in the game. I mean, seriously. Just read into what they say, and you will see so much. Yes, the information is very fractured, but that's what we love about the characters -- each one is a mystery. Speaking of loot, that's a nice idea. Maybe not as Blu-Ray, but as a USB Flash card. Thats kinda harsh to say I think, I personally like fan interpretations because it allows for representation that isn't normally in media, ideas that you never would of thought of and there's something for everyone's taste. You dont have to agree but saying that most of them are trash is sort of insulting to the people themselves because a lot of people project their traits/problems onto their favorite characters. Myself included. Do I want more story? Absolutely. But there will always be something unknown to us and maybe even Klei. And a lot of things are already open to personal interpretation anyway, I believe all the characters race's are up to you to decide. Not sure if that's official though. XirmiX
We practically know all of the backstories. Not fully, but something. To be honest the story is between Wilson and Maxwell and all the other characters are just the extra and to have the game with more choices. You wouldn't care to find out who are the other people that died in your world, now would you? Warburner
None of the game is real. You play the game as Charlie, watching over and controlling each individual survivor and Maxwell. Charlie is in purgatory, so she re-imagines each survival attempt over and over again which is why even after death, the survivors return once again in a new world. The new world keeps things interesting. Since Charlie is playing "god" in this dream-like-scenario, she loves being able to watch everything happen, which is why when you go in the dark, she gets frustrated and with her overwhelming power, tries to get you back into the light, so she can control you and watch you progress further. There is your new backstory. Goodnight for now. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/37557-more-backstories/page/2/#findComment-506860 Share on other sites
Rocky Springs
There aren't many of those. We have an art section for fan-made backstories, if you want to share them. Thats kinda harsh to say I think, I personally like fan interpretations because it allows for representation that isn't normally in media, ideas that you never would of thought of and there's something for everyone's taste. And a lot of things are already open to personal interpretation anyway, I believe all the characters race's are up to you to decide. Not sure if that's official though. I may have started a wordy monologue on how critique works and why we should always question what we do; and that we always should be our worst critics in the first place. But I won't, it's not the right place and time. Because, well, honesty for honesty -- I do share my own experience with the characters, too. Which is more -- I PROJECT my experience on characters and tend to go too far with it. So anyone who can slap me in the face and tell me to check my privilege is, in fact, welcome. I also may say that I simply cannot cheer someone up because I'm, uhhh, expected to. Likewise, they don't need my approval.Or do they? We're not five-year-olds -- we should understand that whatever we do online, will be questioned. Even if we do it for fun -- it will be questioned. Agree, disagree, it will happen. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/37557-more-backstories/page/2/#findComment-507007 Share on other sites

Kenny1889
I don't understand something, but didn't wanted to create whole new topic for this, maybe here is appropriate place for that question...Why Webber in epilogue called "it"? He is a little boy, so he could be called "he", or, because it's little boy inside of a spider, "they"? But why "it"? Also, I remember, that when DLC just came out, in the epilogue that was "he", but when everyone examine him on throne, they call him "it"...Now they call him "he"! Kenny1889
Oh dang thats...not good.... I can understand "they" and "he" for webber and I actually use both but..... ooh.... I really remember, that he was called "he" in epilogue, I don't understand, why that was changed. It made sense - other people don't know, what is sitting on the throne - they just see big spider, so that is understandable, why they call him "it". But actually it's just a little boy inside a spider, so it would be logical, that he called "he" in epilogue, not "it". "Despite Webber being male, other characters will refer to him as "it" when finding him on the Nightmare Throne, most likely because in their eyes he's just a humanoid spider."From Wiki. delete accoun
Only Wilson and Maxwell are canon. Everyone else? Eh, we got snippets of them in the puzzle clues. wolfgang and wes were in the circus, and due to wendy's quote on the maxwell staute, it is belived that she and abigail are his neices. so Maxwell, probably got a handful of people to try and take his place, probably people he knew, and a UNAWARE scientist to build his machine.
