Bow and Arrow. Simple as that

Recommended Posts

I once threw a boomerang and it didn't come back.

I live in constant fear.

But with a Bow and Arrow, it's different.

A bow is a flexible piece of Wood which shoots projectiles such as your common arrow. A string joins the two ends of the bow and when the string is drawn back, the ends of the bow are flexed, and when released, swoosh. The arrow will fly through the air and, Bob's your uncle, your targets dead.

An arrow, is quite complex. Consisting of three parts.

The Arrowhead is made of stone, metal or horn. The best "look" for the head is probably your classical broadhead

The Shaft is the "stick". It is made by light wood, in our case, Twigs.

The Fletching is the little feather at the end of an arrow. It basically stabilizes the arrow through flight.

I think the best way to make a Bow is by using Twigs, Silk and Rope.

As for the arrows, Twigs, Stone and Feathers.

To shoot, simply point at an enemy and Left click. Or Hold the left mouse button and it will charge the shot. Arrows have %50 chance to be regained when firing. When hit, %25 chance (or whatever the fudge).

If I recall correctly (big emphasis on that), Klei wanted weapons that were a bit more unusual. A lot of recent games with crafting systems let you make things like swords and bows, but Don't Starve instead has weapons like spears, boomerangs, and blow-darts. The same basic gameplay needs are fulfilled (ranged and melee weapons), but it gives Don't Starve a bit more of its own identity.

yea, pretty much if you added bows and arrows into a game with blow darts, it'd be completely redundant...at least in a game like this.

We are currently working on coding for bows in our mod, you're more than welcome to grab the code from us once we are finished with the first release of our mod.
