But considering our track record as a community when it comes to puzzle solving, we'll probably spend a healthy chunk of time overanalyzing what little there is. And have a smashing time while doing it, I might add. Speaking of speculation... *adjusts tinfoil hat* There's one thing that's really bugging me about this. I'm curious as to wether the "Reign of Giants" will mean just the giant badger/raccoon monster. More specifically...do you guys remember when we were dismantling the Forbidden Knowledge trailer and nobody had any idea why this guy was floating around? Screen Shot 2014-01-15 at 7.37.38 PM.pngWe never really did figure out where he fit in. All the rest of the stuff was science symbols, URLs, etc, but this fellow was particularly out of place. I mean, I know it's unlikely that they were planning something this far in advance, but...if we're going to see a huge, firebreathing turtle monster, what better place than among giants? We actually did figure out what that was. It was a recreation of a "Kaiju Anatomy" image depicting Gamera. The conclusion was that it was not specifically related to DS but rather just showing all the info that was pouring into Wilson's head. It could still have served as inspiration for the DLC though. I guess I can still hold on to the delusion that it was foreshadowing the whole "giant" aspect of the DLC, as long as I ignore the fact that the game hadn't been released when that trailer came out, and there was no way they'd be planning DLC before Don't Starve had become such a success, and....ah, who am I kidding. I have a considerable amount of egg on my face now. Turtle egg.I shell never live this down. I guess, for now, we just hold out for Klei to release a bigger teaser in the future, since they've tortoise to be patient with this stuff in the past. Then it too must be killed because it also is full of meat! Forget the meat! I want that shell to make a boat out of, so you can move quickly between peninsulas, or maybe to little satellite islands with special resources? Or stick some wheels on that thing and roll away in it, rather than jogging everywhere. Somehow, I just like the contradictory idea of a turtle giving you the power to move around faster. But I suppose you could also make it into a mini bunker, a panic room of sorts, but that would have to be very expensive or sanity draining to avoid being op... Sorry, enough with the mulling over nonexistent items. Though that does remind me, what do you think our Badgerbear buddy is going to drop as loot? All bosses yield unique loot that opens up new possibilities...high tier magic items, spider control, turrets. What would make it worth it to take this guy on?The only thing I can think of is perhaps some really thick fur that you could make into a very high tier winter clothing item for late game players who don't want to deal with the hassles of winter. Since the boss is bear/badger like, I was thinking of something like a Hibearnation Helm, that gives you-immunity to cold-drastically slowed hunger rate (like a buffed Belt of Hunger)-and maybe a slight hit boost, nothing Wolfgang-like, but just a bit of extra bearlike strength to round things out. It would have to have a decay rate, like the Spiderhat, to match the trouble you went to get it, but also prevent it from being OP.Sorry, rambling again. But I am curious, what do you guys think a good loot item would be?
