How Long Have You Lived For?

Recommended Posts

I began playing Wolfgang again and I overconfidently thought he could handle a combat with him being Mighty and having Pig friends. Guess what monster mob I died to? Yep, Tier 3 swarms of spiders.

Pay attention to the tips here (including your own) or suffer the consequences...

Stupid me will have to try again later....

Day 134, summer. I had just returned from a little trip of mine.

I took 20 Rockthuli to the Reed Field Trap to clear out the Tentacles. Highly successful. I was even attacked by hounds during the trip and the Rockthuli took care of them like nothing. After waiting around until they gave up following me, I proceeded to head back to my base.

Down the path, through a wormhole, at the edge of my base. Once I arrived, I realized that a smaller Rockthulu had continued to follow me. He was teleported to my side when I stepped out of the wormhole. I happened to have 3 Tier 3 Spider Dens in my bunny trap that needed to be cleared out, so I put Rockthulu to work.

Just before dusk I entered the trap with Rockthulu in tow. I sent him forward and had him draw all the spiders out. Once the spiders were on Rockthulu and he went into defensive position, the time changed over to dusk and the Eight Bunnymen appeared from their homes. It took all of dusk, but the Bunnymen, with my help, cleared out all of the spiders. I then broke the Dens, lead the Bunnymen to their death in the tooth traps at the entrance, and collected all my loot.

There was just one thing left to do before I could head home. While Rockthulu is an awesome buddy to have, he likes to eat the gems and rocks I have on the ground in my base. I'm not having that. So proceeded to attack Rockthulu to be the end of my trip.

I got into a good rhythm kiting his attacks. When Rockthulu would switch to defensive position, I would wait patiently for him to stand back up. Everything was going smooth as could be, but then he got in ONE hit. I thought at 75 heath as Maxwell, I could survive one unarmored hit from Rockthulu. If I got hit, I was going to run back a bit, heal up with the spider glands, and continue pounding on Rockthulu.

Alas, it wasn't meant to be.

Don't get cocky indeed.

I'm currently on day 486, playing as Wilson. I stopped playing for a few months on day 250 or so, then decided to have a good look around my world for the cave entrance. Turns out I'd already found it without noticing, as I spotted it just looking over my map.

At the moment I'm avoiding further boredom by reorganising my base. With the Architectural Geometry mod (the only one I use) I'm finally able to make things look nice and neat, so I've rebuilt all my farms (and doubled their number) and I'm going to work on my bee boxes once summer arrives.

I've been thinking of posting some pictures once I reach day 1000.

Hi there

I am Cazzzy (one half of Just a Boy and a Girl Gaming). Now I don't think myself great at Don't Starve, but I have to say that I am pretty proud of my of my +200 plus days (I can't remember the exact number, but I survived about 5/6 winters) when I played Wolfgang.

Now this got me wondering, how well other people have been doing and how long people have stayed sane ;) So do you have a character that you are particularly proud of? Let me and everyone know!

Have you got a particular character you are good on? A particular biome that you like to build your camp in? Do you have some hints and tips that have kept you alive in the past? I want to know all these things, so please please let me know!

Thanks a lot everyone

Cheerio for now

Cazzzy

P.S. As a side note if you fancy a laugh then check out our 'A Noob Plays' Don't Starve series as I force IcyVenom (the other half of the duo) to play, it will certainly be interesting

You can watch it here:

My best was with  wolfgang (140+ days) i died becaouse i wanted to unlock other characters.

Started these a long time ago, before there were caves in DS.  Each is still going but only one cave per world so I may kill them off.

Wilson 434 days - still alive

Willow 346 days - still alive

New world started last week.

Wendy 347 days - still alive, just passed Willow.

I've never used the Teleportato - I don't see the point. Once you get really familiar with one world, you can do almost anything because you know exactly how far you can travel per summer/winter day, and have all this work put into it.

By day 100 or so, I have a solid "main" base that can take a weekly hound assault and winter. By day 200 I have a decent "bug out" base on the other side of the map, at least strong enough that I can survive summer hounds or live a week there during winter. Depending on the map/roads, I'll also have 3 to 6  more "overnight" camps where I can go in extreme cases and live a few days. I put them here and there around the world, usually near wormholes, stock a chest with live bunnies and a drying rack or two. Somewhere by now I've got spider dens set up next to pigs or merms so I can farm the silk for free.

By day 300 I start on major terraforming, clearing paths through woods so I can do shortcuts through them even during the rain w/o the risk of lighting burning me up in a forest fire. I'll build or connect roads w/ cobbles in a few key places, mostly so I can get from my main base to my bug out base in a short winter day of travel with no walking stick. Also, this is when you move beefalo herds, build out whole new pig villages, and nowadays, see if I can get Rock Lobsters where I want them. (I don't build walls or pens much - just one for hound attacks.  I prefer being able to run away or kite attackers intp mobs without ever getting stuck.)

Tip: drop pine cones or dug up turf on the road so you can see it well in winter even when snow covered. (I used to use Nitre for this, but I have Rock Lobsters in my world now, and they eat nitre.)

Lately, I've stopped digging up and moving grass, twigs and berry bushes. I find that having them spread out means I can get an emergency meal or supplies almost anywhere on the map. I don't seem to have any problem harvesting as I go on missions.
