Don't Starve Awareness

Recommended Posts

the mods satisfy all changes one could want to the game (and they are free). People just don't know much about it, there is little to no advertisement. It has mostly and in my opinion only spread through word of mouth. But I kinda like it that way, its like being a part of a secret society :).

Roguelikes aren't a big thing, considering especially that the game is a SANDBOX ROGUELIKE. Unlike other sandbox games(terraria, minecraft, that other stuff) a mod is required to respawn easily. While Don't starve does have the challenge of YOLO, It can tick people off really easily. It hurts even more when one loses their loot and their world, and that leads to the rage of having to build it up again, only losing to something else. In my opinion, something is lacking, but I don't know what! Don't starve has been played by almost every single major youtuber In my opinion (unfaircogaming, totalhalibut, pewdiepie, yogscast, notably sjin). As mentioned before, once one gets a base, the game becomes a drag while one looks for extra challenge. And that's what caves were for, even though half the fanbase seems to care less about going into a ultra dangerous world that is trying to kill them even harder. I think enough people are aware of it, it just might become a big thing after a long time(like lovecraft or van gogh's works.) Just imagine: in 2015, some lone nerd stumbles upon these forums and blogs about the game on zeta-facebook or something, leading to a billion people suddenly buying the game.

I think I derailed.

Well to be fair, the game is a Rogue-like-like (Kevin stated that way back!). And as for the Caves, it's honestly not really that interesting. In my opinion Klei totally missed what we were trying to say when we said the game lacked the harsh nature and challenge we expected it to have.

I found Don't Starve because of the fan art (on Deviantart). The more I saw those pictures and comics, the more I became curious about the game (even though I'm not really a gamer type myself). After seeing a lot of DS fanart of a certain artist, I finally decided to take a look at the game itself.

After that, I've spent many many hours playing the game, and drawing some fan art myself.

It would be cool if someone found this game because of my art..! :D

In my opinion, this game is awesome to say the least! Not too hard, but not too easy either.

But the longest I've survived so far is 105 days, so I may not be experienced enough to say anything... But either way, I've enjoyed every hour that I spent playing the game. ^w^
