Ctrl, Alt, Delete; A trick to try out!

Have you ever experienced a fate worse than death? I.e., I had my whole farm burnt down by fire hounds, and the farm seemed impossible to recover, for I have my world settings to medium, and I didn't want to be a Berry bush waster, so what did I do? I forced closed Don't Starve with Task Manager! I don't know if this counts as cheating, but it WILL be if you use this to cheat death! Besides, I have stone walls surrounding my farm and the fire bounced to the other side, thanks to my stupid mistake having my Houndius Shootiui placed next to my farm! So basically, if a bug attacks your game, it's alright to use "cheats" to get your stuff back! Another example would be to spawn your Chester's lost items back because of a crash!

Well, before a few patches was more simple to just do that. But with the last final patch things r complicated and buggy.First,if **** happens u can press escape and do that quit but i suggest only in the survival map.Second,i use it once in ruins,i forgot to pick one item from my base so i tried to do that with hope that last save could be in my base(game saves when u go throw a cave level).Result:i lost everything that was inside chester. Also if things go "wrong" and the game "saves" just after it,u will gonna die anyway, there is no way to save ur situation cause the load will take you after the "wrong" that happened.
Also when dieing u cant press escape.
Also i tried something similar with a very old save world with maxwell while i was in caves (dat weak maxwell  ) and the game crashed everytime i was trying to load this save after the forced quit.
So what i suggest? Learn the game and play it safe untill u know what ur doing.Dont do those forced quits cause maybe u find ur game with damaged save files.
There is another one way to "cheat" but doing so,u lose the unique thrill for surving and the feel of permadeath so.... learn and enjoy this wonderfull game... ;)

Note: Force Close and C_spawn to get Chester's items back are the only cheats I use. My sister's a bigger "cheater" than me because she spawns items at the spot! Also, c_gonext to find Chester's eyebone was only used once because I was handfilled even with a Krampus Sack!

P.S.: That sack is really a jerk to obtain! Darn Krampus!

You're right... sorry.

No need to apologize. Let's be completely honest here, damn near everyone has cheated in one form or another while playing this game (I've save scummed in the past). The talk about how to or the fact that you have cheated is rather taboo on these forums. The reason for that taboo is due to the nature of the game itself.

Don't Starve is self described as "An uncompromising survival game". With the word "uncompromising" comes the ideas of not only is the game hard, but it is SUPPOSE to be hard. Circumnavigating the "hardness" of the game through cheats takes away what makes this game unique compared to other survival games. For example, permadeath.

It's understandable WHY you cheated, but not condonable. You need to practice, plan, run from scary things, die, die again, lose all your stuff in a bad lighting/killer bees/spiders/treeguard(all at once) accident and bounce back from it by practicing, planing, and running away from scary things.

You will have more pride in yourself for what you accomplish when you play this game legit.

Now go out there and have fun dying and losing all your stuff man. Welcome to the forums.

Oh! Don't starve. =3

VERY good point! Like how I take pride in my base, repaired it after a deerclops attack, and ESPECIALLY retrieved the Krampus Sack! There are wonderful things ahead at the end of hard work!

Indeed, I've save scummed too. Only once to get the Krampus Sack. Because... I mean... really?!?! a 1% drop from a mob that's hard to summon?!?!? That's just stupid. And also... that's a beautiful speech. Have a green arrow.

You can use the mod for the Krampus sack to craft it but because its extremely expensive to do so,its worth it to use this mod so still the game stays balanced.
Some key points for Dont Starve is gain experience, always have a plan and a backup plan, learn the mechanics and how the world acts, use the advantages of each character, learn how to fight and how to fight different type of enemies, good base organise, you can "craft" your save without cheating(meaty effigy) read and use the dont starve wikiiiii and mostly important... dont starve!!! :p

p.s and ffs dont use console commands,it totally ruins this unique game!!!
