Have tentacles been buffed?

So, a little while before the strange new powers update, i took a break from don't starve up to moderately friendly, back then, i was able to kite tentacles with ease and could get tentacle spikes no problem, now a days trying to fight a tentacle by kiting it is a death sentence, has their AI or damage been buffed or something?

Apparently if you're too close to tentacles they loop their attack.

No strangely enough since their attacks look like they can damage multiple targets.

How does that even work, the tentacle is swinging around with reckless abandon and it can only hit one target at a time? thats a bit odd

Yeah but it's probably to make it fair so that Tentacle aren't too OP.

Yea, they're pretty difficult to fight alone even with a logsuit spear and football helmet

So far most of my deaths are from Suicide Fires, Trying to collect a tentacle spike, and frog mafias.

Uhm... I see no reason to kite tentacles. I let Chester take the damage while I attack.

 

They should nerf Chester. Once you learn how to use hes tank abilities, the game loses 50% the challenge. Maybe make Chester untergetable by other creatures?

This strategy does not work for me, because my brain is hard-coded to protect chester, everytime something so much as looks at him, well... lets just say... i stab them in the face over and over until they die ^_^

Chester has a monster hp regeneration, he is nearly immortal

For instance: Chester has 450hp and a 22,5hp/3 seconds regeneration, which means you can even get yourself to full HP with the bat bat by leeching hes life and he won't die.

I always let merms or spiders kill tentacles. Rarely I take them on myself.

Bunk.  Chester can't defend himself from leaves blowing in the wind much less anything actually trying to kill him.

Tentacles are tools. Moreso than their spikes, tentacles are the weapons I prefer to use against all the monsters of the game.

Weelp, the new fixes tested on Steam change the "lack of tentacle attacking'" that used to happen with certain characters/followers.
