is there any "beta" mod?

im looking for any kind of mod that changes the game to the way it used to be when it was on beta stage (at least until the spider queen update) if there isn't a mod of that already then its a request, i really want to go  back to the old times when everything was pretty much controlled, why? Nostalgia, man, nostalgia...

I wonder if Klei does keep old versions of the game. There was one update where the old version accidentally rolled out instead of the update (A Little Rain Must Fall?).

It could go either way. I know they've already said they didn't keep the old map generation.

Actually... Yes, it would. If you have the legal copy of the game, you are allowed to pirate it how many times you want. Some people do that with console CDs, because they are afraid to end up damaging the original CD, thus, they make copies of it.

That's a finicky topic. Whether it's legal or not depends on your country's legislation.

Well, considering piracy is not a big deal nowadays, even if it was a crime, no one would call the police just because the OP wants to play Don't Starve beta.

I don't know if there's a mod. That was an "If" example.

Yeah, some person who remembers or (somehow) even had an old version of the game can mod the conditions, but short of finding (I think) some Chrome trial game, I doubt anything exists that old...

 

 

I did just have an idea that you COULD (download the game, if needed and re-)install the  standalone game, NOT run (as in skip) the updater, and see what version that is, and do the above. But Steam re-installs will auto-update the game unless you want to try putzing around with the Steam individual game properties.

 

At least with standalone, you can see the old game settings that way and mod it (after saving the info you need for configuration) when you update it to the latest version again.

Even then, I doubt it would be worth a modder's time just for the sake of nostalgia. (Speaking of which, I kinda really want to buy that new Sega console bundle..)

if you think about it you just have to erase some things and replace a little bit of files, because most stats can be re-written easily, disable all caves and winter stuff plus the new mobs, change attack damage to its original state, re-re-reskin wolfgang,it could even keep the new characters, too bad im not a modder, if i was i would have done this mod already and some people would already have it on their mod library

I wouldn't know. I don't mod, and I try to make it clear that anything I say about mods is just based on what I've seen so far.

This would be pretty easily done. I don't think there's that much of a demand for it, though.
