Is It Even Worth It To Repair Top Hats?

Recommended Posts

I always use ~4-6 sewing kits per season (despite having several of each clothing piece). Main uses are for dapper vest & top hat, everything else loses durability much much slower (can do an entire winter with a single puffy vest & beefalo hat, but dapper & top hat need repairs after 1 day in game :D).

I have so much silk that there's no point to not make them (sort of a silk sink), as I make ~3 stacks of silk from my small 3 dens farm (I don't use traps for spiders, I just ignore them until they reach level 3, then bring Abi, force attack the nest so that EVERYTHING pops out, then clean the house and replant), but also every trip into caves / marsh gives me loads of silk (I think I have like 20 spider dens in my swamp, the place is literally covered with glands, monster meat - before being consumed by the little pesky balls - silk, queen hats, merm remains, tentacles remains, and so far neither side is dominant, each keeps it's numbers - tentacles being the only ones that will slowly lose over time).

Imagine if we could repair other armors using different kits made from components similar to fabrication ones required for specific items (like nightmare fuel repairing dark sword & night armor, logs and pig skins repairing log suit / football helmet, broken shells repairing shelmet & snurtle armor etc).

I'll keep a sewing kit around to preserve a vest for subsequent winters. I don't usually bother with the other hats except as necessary or found laying about.

Sanity isn't too big an issue for Wendy, usually a garland during the summer and a wool cap during the winter do just fine. Until a deerclops spawns, wrecks the whole base, and/or murders poor Wendy.  I think I'll need to keep 2 football helmets and 1-2 logsuits just for that fight >.>

or some sleep darts (8 I believe) and (was it 11?) gunpowder, a little "cheap" but its the best thing for wendy

Oh man I always bring two tops hats with me to the next adventure mode level. Never need to worry about sanity!

There's this stereotype floating around that all artists of the forums are bad at the game...

Why bring two top hats and use two slots when you can bring 12 silk and use only one :I

...Or not bring silk at all... Unless you're playing as Willow, I can't see how sanity wold be a problem.

On topic, I also think the two only items worth repairing are the tam o shanter and the belt, the belt because it's non renewable and the tam because its a pain to get. Ocasionally I'll repair a beefalo hat too, if I don't fell like shaving.

Silk is always great for bug nets, sewing kits, tents and other things. Since spiders are plentiful in all the levels, i don't bother personally, but silk comes in handy in AM.

I usually use a fire wand. Then again, I usually die using that method so... Yeah, sleep dart+ gunpowder is probably more effective.

Strange, I do pretty well in DS. And any other game that got me hooked since the early 90s when home computers got more common.

I live a very nomadic lifestyle in adventure mode, don't even build a science machine so I can refine that silk into hats. I wear top hats at night and leave them on until my sanity is restored. If I stumble across a field of flowers I make use of them instead. Not having to worry about sanity at all makes things a lot easier  Once I've explored and gathered enough stuff I settle down not too far away from the Wooden Thing and prepare for the next level.

Bud don't you have to just make it once and then don't need the Science Machine? I'm not following you there.

Wait, you don't build hats 'cause you don't even build a SM, yet you wear Top Hats at night...but you can't make hats 'cause you don't build a SM...

*head explodes, fortunately was wearing a life giving amulet.*

Yeah, just build one, use it for its intentions then, and hammer it getting half resources back (in adventure mode. In Sandbox, we now have those lovely Deconstruction staves thanks to the Caves.)

I cringe every time one alludes on using the Deconstruction Staff as a hammer.

And yeah, in a game where the fun is in exploring things yourself, i would retain from linking articles in the wiki. The least chance to spoil things to others the better. Thanks :)
