Ware could've sworn he had heard something. Whatever it was, it could've been nasty, so he ran. While running, something became clear. No one else was seeing this. It was night, and mostly everyone was asleep. Alone, in the night. Ware looked back at the portal. He thought something had come out of it. He was never that great at fighting, he was more, to put it bluntly, wimpy. He went back to the portal, but nothing had been there. Not even some sort of mist or something. He decided he had to make sure it was indeed a portal. Closing his eyes, and blocking his face with one hand, he started to reach in. "H-here we go..."

(....folks, this is getting rather ridiculous....)

(Sorry I was on a trip that was quite long indeed.)Whyte looks to see his boomerang but also sees an eerie light from around the corner. He peeks around the wall and sees a portal."I doubt father will even notice that I'm gone," and Whyte hopped into the portal.

Warren finally made it to see Wilson at the portal. Warren felt unsettled by some of the being that had also shown up, but he dismissed such feelings as he expected a... varied group, since they were all called here by the boss himself. He saluted to Wilson respectfully and waited for orders.

(I didn't get notice of him doing so, if he did. ARGH...if that's the case, he's getting skipped for now. And yes, unusually-short post from me.)

"And the King needs to remember his place," he responded to the shadowed spirit with an altered voice before suddenly jumping back away from the portal for a second, the bleeding wound on his chest from the avian's talons healing quick as a pair of humans emerged from the portal almost-simultaniously. A toothy side grin appeared on his face as red eyes fell upon the pair, taking a step back as if making room. "Ah, the earth decides to give us toys to practice with," he commented before waving a black-gloved hand toward them. "Have fun, everyone."

(I'm back from a week camping trip without internet connection, but I can finally post here again.)Newleaf examined Wilson carefully. Was this the mighty Wilson? The one who had dethroned Maxwell? Surely he had to be more than a petty human. Despite this, however, Newleaf could feel immense power radiating off the figure. Almost that of the strange immage he saw before him. He could only guess what it was. Newleaf began to ponder what was going on, until he saw movement coming from the dimensional rip that was the portal. Almost instinctively, he summoned two treeguards to flank him. He heard Wilson speaking about "Earth". Could this be his future enemies in an upcoming war? What new threat would emerge? Newleaf braced himself for whatever would come out of the portal, although his instinct told him that it would not be easily dealt with.

Ware had almost considered stopping, but something had seemed to pull him into the portal- if it even was one. He almost tripped as he went through the portal, into a different world. After going into the portal, he fell flat on his face on the other side. The floor was oddly heated. He could feel quite a bit of heat on the ground. Ware knew why the flooring was so warm. The entire world was very hot, almost as if it were a desert. But, as he started to get up, he saw four things: Green grass. This was no desert. The cartoonish man, who seemed to be pointing at him. A pig man, of which startled him a bit. The last thing was a living tree. Ware thought that it was a good thing he never cut down trees.

Then again, his house was made of wood, and so was his bow. Ware was surged by a keen sense of distress and fear. As soon as he got up, he started to run.

(I'll just assume that the two humans were me and TheBunnyMan.)

Charlie chuckled menacingly. She sent a shadow hand to block the fleeing human's path. It rose up from the ground, still flat but in the way. "Where do you think you're going? We're just getting started." Her voice was monsterous, yet retained its feminine quality. She snapped her jaws a few times from the shadows, making sure the sound was audible.

Warren pointed the sharp end of the spear at at the human that was blocked off by the shadowy hand and growled. He wasn't entirely sure what made the human so threatening, but he decided he didn't want to know. "Higgs says you are one of many bad player peoples!" He slowly approached the human with the intention of intimidating him.

Newleaf inspected the human, for awhile, then let out a loud laugh. "This is the enemy? He's too feeble to even fight! Look at him flee! What a coward!" Newleaf then directed his attention to Wilson. "With all due respect, master Wilson, why are we fighting these? They're just cowardly humans! What do we gain by slaying them? Surely these cannot be the one's imprisoning us here." Newleaf snapped his fingers, and the treeguards that flanked him advanced towards the human, then watched as the night hand blocked the human's path. Could that be the Grue? He had heard many legends of her, or it, as a child. The Grue against the humans. Why, that was hardly a fair fight. Newleaf then looked at the pig, who was attempting to intimate the human. A pig could hardly intimidate anyone! Except maybe humans, which in this case, was very appropriate. The two other treeguards reached out in order to grab the human.

Ware didn't get very far. He didn't even see the hand there, so he ran right into it. He fell backwards onto his back, and quickly sat up.

During the running as well as the falling, he could've sworn he heard the tree and pig talking. He looked around, and noticed two things. The pig was pointing a spear at him, and slowly walking toward him. Ware stood up, and tried to roll around the pig to disarm him. But, right as he got up, he was picked up by two other trees. He squirmed as he struggled to get out of their grip.

"Wait...." The night hands moved, removing the human from the tree guards' grasp. "I have a better thought." She snickered menacingly. "They spent so much time treating us like play things. Let us do the same." She placed the human down on the ground. "You tortured us in this wicked creation of yours. Now it is time for you to play the other side of the board." She laughed maniacally as the hands disappeard along with her eyes. "You have a minute to run. And then the hunt begins."

Celeste dashed through the dark alleyway, the sound of Onyx's panting not far behind. "Not much longer," she muttered. She was looking for a new place to hide. She was more of a nomad than someone who stayed behind in one spot. Celeste couldn't bear that thought. She would most likely be caught if she stayed in one place. She wasn't a fan of big, fancy houses either. She preferred houses near the woods or those with a quick, easy escape route due to the fact she could slip out and evade capture if need be. Onyx growled rather quietly at Celeste. Celeste groaned. "Fine. We'll stop in a minute." she whispered. The duo slowed down to a walk, and stopped against the wall of an old apartment. Onyx lay down in the old rocks of the alley, and Celeste sat down beside her.

Newleaf was not at all surprised at the Grue for releasing the human. After all, revenge was revenge. That did not change the fact, however, that Newleaf could not keep up with the human. He was too fast, too agile. He decided to let the Grue have the fun. "I'll just stay by the portal, and wait to see if any more humans come through." Newleaf wondered if any more beings would come to answer the call of war, or if they even needed any. Surely the humans could not be strong enough to defeat their group? Newleaf began his transformation into a tree. After all, the journey that brought him to the group was long and tiring, and he would need his energy.

(If Bunnyman doesn't show soon, I'm gonna assume the portal he jumped into ate his character.)

Eyes were closed tight for a brief second at the tone in the young Treeguard's voice, one of questioning and confusion. He had the urge to correct the leaflet about the supposed weakness of humanity when something caught his interest upon reopening the small spheres.

Movement, the young Puppet Master caught sight of movement in one small section of the large portal in the center of the world. Walking up toward it with brown-orange coloration trying to return to his red eyes, Wilson placed a balled up fist against the surface before suddenly flaring the same hand wide open, widening further the section of portal that had caught his curiosity. While the girl he saw for a brief moment did not catch any particular amount of interest, he gasped quietly when he saw her loyal companion.

"That's not possible, how is a Hound already on the other side?"

Celeste kicked the wall, sighing. She looked over at Onyx, whose head rested upon her paws and slept. She smiled, then looked at the wall. The brief smile that flashed upon her face quickly left as she began to lose herself in thought. She wanted to get to the bottom of these strange occurrences. A portal, among other things. The town was no longer as active and busy as she remembered it. Instead, it was an empty ghost town.

She pondered for a bit more, eventually reaching the topic of her shyness. She'd probably need friends to figure out what was going on here, but she couldn't make them easily. She was too nervous around new people. Every time someone new would come along, she would try to be friendly, but all her attempts didn't work. She would always look away nervously and she would stutter... or not talk at all.

Warren watched the human run away, and laughed a little in amusement. "I guess we find him later..." he muttered. He wasn't too interested in chasing the frightened kid immediately, anyway.

His attention was redirected to the only other interesting thing at the moment: the Hound that was somehow already on the other side. "A Hound?" He questioned. "Higgs, the magic you used to make portals... maybe they cause change in the other world?"

A hound? How fascinating. "Perhaps our two planes desire equilibrium. Even things out." Charlie watched as the human ran. Yes. Run little lamb. For no matter where you run, you run to slaughter. She struck up a light on her pipe and chuckled.

Newleaf sees the hound through the portal, and his hands clench with anger. He begins trembling, and begins walking towards the portal. "Lord Wilson, I request access to that... That... Beast. Allow me to go through the portal, I only need to kill that hound." Newleaf moves closer and closer to the hound, indifferent to why it's there, or how it got on the other side. The only thing on his mind was killing that hound.

After a long day of work, Aaron was finally heading home. He yearned to play more of the new game, Don't Starve, he received. It was fun making the characters run around and die various deaths. Aaron was even thinking about new plans of adventure when he noticed something odd skitter by the edge of his vision. It was big, whatever it was, and definitely no raccoon or cat that would normally be running around the cityscape. It was much bigger, about the size of a bear. Cautiously, he peered around the corner of the building it hid behind.

His eyes widened. It was a creature from that very game; a hallucination when one's sanity is low. The large, tick-like thing stared right at him, its glowing white eyes locked with Aaron's. In an instant it crawled near him, towering the small boy.

Without a second thought, Aaron was running down the street, to scared too look back, too nervous to scream if it wasn't really there. About four blocks down, he paused for a breath and glanced behind him. Nothing. With a long sigh, he turned to leave and was face-to-face with a shadow-serpent hallucination. It chomped it's fangs once before lunging at Aaron, promptly snagging him in it's mouth before slithering rapidly down a dark alley.

Now he screamed, but the serpent was moving too fast, and within moments he lost his bearing on where he was in the city. Then he saw it: a portal nested between two trash containers. It swirled and moved similarly to that of the very game he wanted to play, but before he could think, the monster plummeted right in with Aaron tightly stuck in it's mouth. He momentarily caught the glimpse of a winged humanoid as he passed through, but the realization he was falling stole that thought.

The Beyond

When Aaron awoke, he found himself in a familiar situation, however this time it was first-hand. Around him was grass, birds, trees, and the very obvious tone that was Don't Starve. Nervously, he looked around for the hallucination, should they still be around. Luckily, it was daytime, and the shadows of the morning didn't shift like any monster he was familiar with.

What was that all about, he wondered, and where was he, exactly? Before his mind clouded with questions, he shook his head and cleared his thoughts. If he was in the Don't Starve land, the Beyond, then he was already in a lot of danger and needed to prepare. Coming to terms with his fate, Aaron began harvesting some sticks and grass, knowing night would come eventually.

Then he looked up. A massive portal above him churned a dark color. It did not, however, take up all of the sky. Aaron stared at it for a while, assuming that’s where he fell from. He took the grass and sticks and began making a ready-to-light torch. Wanting a bit of a vantage point, he began climbing up a tall tree. After falling three times, and hurting himself in the process, he finally made it to the top and took a survey of his surroundings. Up to the north he saw what seemed to be several creature, but before he could examine what they were, he noticed something odd far off in the distant sky. The large portal dropped something that looked like a human. He watched the human-like figure fall until it hit the ground, where he saw a black figure swoop up a shadow claw. He was nervous seeing more monsters surround this lone human, and decided if he wasn't alone in the Beyond, then he should preserve what humans remained within it.

Sliding down from the tree, Aaron snatched some berries off a bush and headed North, knowing it would be quite some time before he arrived. He hoped the other person was alright, and in the back of his mind he reminded himself that if the person should die, there would be more resources for himself.
