I would like to see an option where attacking with the space bar can be entirely disabled. My deaths, 90% of the time are cause by accidentally attacking something. If I wanted to attack something, I would use CTRL + Space bar. Therefore, I don't understand why the space bar ever has be attack.Alternatively, non-aggressive and aggressive actions could simply be bound to separate keys.Example:Space bar = non-aggressive actionCTRL = attack

I don't think simply making the space bar not attack would help that much. I've had the reverse problem as well; I want to attack something and instead I run over and grab something off the ground.

I'd just like to know what pressing space is going to do before I press it. It would be nice if the target was highlighted or something. So, if pressing space will make you pick a sapling instead of attacking that gobbler you're luring, the sapling could be highlighted.

Currently, pressing space feels like a bit of a gamble :/

I use space to attack all the time, so I'd rather that not be removed. It is very useful for attacking tentacles that can't be clicked when underground. Using just the keyboard for combat also gives me more precise timing for when to attack after dodging.Spacebar only seems to attack hostile targets, so it was probably changed in the 6 months since the OP.

I only use the spacebar when there is something behind a tree or I don't have my mouse with me (and I almost always have my mouse). I PERSONALLY think that the spacebar suits its purpose and does NOT need a super-advanced function noone will ever use.

I use the spacebar almost exclusively. The only time I don't use it is when I know it's going to default to attack something when I don't want it to. SO it really should only default to attack when you have a WEAPON equipped. Common sense. I really hope they fix it and mikeb fony does too :p

In addition to charging tentacles while trying to pick up loot, I also sometimes pull out my axe, select a good tree for felling, and then charge after a spider 20 feet away.I think the simplest/least disruptive solution would be to make something else + force non-combat actions. Shift? Alt? And while they're at it they could make it so you could interact with structures using the action key.Maybe make the default priority for the action key:Attack hostiles -> Pick up items -> Use tool -> Collect from farm/crock pot/drying rack -> Open containerCtrl + space is attack anything, and shift + space is the above list minus attacking.

Too complicated. I'll say it again- Space only defaults to attack with a proper weapon held, otherwise it performs action. It will only default to attacking with non weapon if there are no other actions to do in the area. Simple. Done and done.

Yea changing them to several other buttons would make it a little too complicated for being a universal use button. I prefer using the space bar during combat because it allows for easy kiting and hitting the closest monster without accidently clicking the ground and doing nothing (and walking in middle of the group), or clicking a monster that is in the middle resulting in the closest ones hitting you even when you go to avoid an attack.Although it does help attacking something right after a weapon breaks with your fist to get an extra stun-hit in and give you time to run if you just realize the weapon broke.
