Maxwell wanted to spread his corrupted influence across Wallaces' town, so he sent army's of hounds and even charlie.. after wallace and his town were finally overrun, he watched the hounds rip apart his family one by one in his house..there lied wallace covered in blood (both his and his family's) charlie approached him, instead of killing him charlie left the house and the rest of the town to burn.
