Klei is too afraid of backlash and want to make every tree more impressive and grand than the previous and it just raises expectations and dev work exponentionally Considering how the last one went down especially the threats to staff I think being afraid is a very reasonable reaction. As far as skill trees go I'm conflicted though this is absolutely the right way to handle these skill trees but the amount of time they'll take now is a shame but understandable. You can start by having your forum moderators permanently ban the offenders and put anti-raid safeguards the thing about death-threats is that if you care about human life you take them seriously. it is not cowardice to NOT put your staff directly in the line of fire when you dont know for sure if people would actually commit to actual physical violence against them. ShadowDuelist
Skill trees usually make me want to play the game more often, because they let me revisit a character I probably neglected before and experience the game again in many new ways from the very beginning. A super late-game boss that’s very hard to reach, and whose reward is meaningless at that stage of the game, doesn’t. I probably don’t represent the majority of players, but I’m sure there are at least a few others who feel the same way. For people like me, high-quality skill trees are great for the game. 4 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/170366-is-1-skill-tree-at-a-time-really-good/page/2/#findComment-1857431 Share on other sites

Skill Tree updates are pretty consistently the ones that drive the most engagement in the beta forums, so I think you might actually in the majority there (hard to know for sure since the forums are a small sample size though, but if we extrapolate the forums to reflect the broader playerbase to some extent, it would be a case of skill trees being the most hyped updates). And honestly, I think the majority of the players never activated Rifts. So... Yeah, I think late-game stuff doesn't affect nearly as many players as Skill Trees or updates that are available for the whole game. 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/170366-is-1-skill-tree-at-a-time-really-good/page/2/#findComment-1857442 Share on other sites

This is always the thing that confused me when people talk about not liking skilltree updates and/or joking that it's not something worth pursuing. Characters are a huge part of the game, and people constantly discuss their character choices. People are generally pretty receptive when a new character tree gets pushed out compared to lategame content a few people might opt in to (I admittedly am a bit of a counter example to that because I play to the comical endgame, but the point still stands). 2 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/170366-is-1-skill-tree-at-a-time-really-good/page/2/#findComment-1857446 Share on other sites

This is why I say that character updates objectively include and affect every single player, because everyone has their own main, their own favourite, etc, etc... They're going to add more planar/rift stuff and the only people actually, actively talking about it will be streamers. I personally have no interest in content that requires several hours of even getting to attempt to unlock when the main world remains with unfinished, empty and lackluster content/biomes. 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/170366-is-1-skill-tree-at-a-time-really-good/page/2/#findComment-1858096 Share on other sites
