Ah yes, asking for teleport, even it is non relate to her character design.

teleport is side effect, main point is to swap place. Unlike other follower, Abigail is Wendy's twin, and Twin swap places is a common things. You can even nerf teleport part by making it temporary, only swap place for few secs.

Why is it that Wendy players can’t politely ask questions or express displeasure with her skill tree without getting dogpiled? I know that some people behaved poorly when her skill tree came out, but you guys are just being mean.

Anyways, here are my issues with her skill tree.

Pipspook Quest I, II, and III: These skills aren’t fun or interesting, but they’re pretty much necessary to remove some of Wendy’s most tedious grind. Unfortunately, it’s not even worth grinding a bunch of Mourning Glories and swapping since she doesn’t have that many skills and most of them aren’t very fun or interesting either. It’s good that QoL skills exist, but I wish you had to actually make a choice between this and the other skills.

Brews: Picnic Casket is fine, though it kinda bugs me that you can’t carry every potion plus Mourning Glories. Ghastly Experience is useful for boss fights. It’s just a bit odd that it’s percentage based rather than number based, so you get Abigail back to level 3 full health weirdly fast. I don’t typically use Strong Brew or Extra Yield because I don’t see any reason for elixirs to last longer and I dislike RNG-based skills. Extra Yield is useful for potentially squeezing out a few extra super elixirs (especially Cursed Vexation pre-rift). Again, these aren’t super fun, but they’re useful enough to keep as is.

Blessed Sisturn I, II, and III: The first two skills are useless. The third skill is okay for learning boss fights since it lets you make a few more mistakes, but in an actual game you’re better off just using Ghastly Experience. It’s also got so many weird exceptions, and the nerf to healing potions (while necessary) can be problematic unless you want to build a Sisturn by every boss and just fuel it immediately before the fight. It’s a shame because the idea and the new idle animation are so good and cute. I also wish the Sisturn worked on both shards. Lastly, I keep meaning to check if this is a universal skill, but my friends won’t play Wendy. If all Abigails with the skill are affected when one person fuels the Sisturn, that could be very problematic. I’m okay with these skills existing, I just think they need a little fine tuning.

Mourning Glory I, II, and III: This branch is good in a thematic sense, but it’s not very good for actual gameplay. The first skill is pretty much useless. The only use is extending Shadow Abigail’s duration, and even then you’re better off catching a bunch of bees or something. The Wraith Wreath is such a cool idea, but it gets outclassed too quickly to be useful. The healing potions aren’t that good since Bee Queen exists (not to mention how easy healing is anyways, unless you’re Wormwood). The shield potions feel under-tuned. The speed potion is just weird, and it doesn’t have many uses when Wendy is encouraged to tame a Beefalo anyways. I wish it was just a regular speed boost. The only good ability is night vision, but that also gets outclassed once you have Gloomthorns. Imo, it’s only worth using the Wraith Wreath if you’re playing Lights Out or doing a scienceless ruins rush or something. I also dislike that you completely lose the ability if you un-equip the Wreath. I wish it would pause or something because I’m constantly swapping my head slot item without thinking. Mourning Glory III might be the worst skill overall. Why is a tier 3 skill just a reskinned meat effigy? Revivals are so cheap in this game, and most of the character-exclusive revivals offer special perks on top of that. Wendy only gets prettier art and a special animation. I really wish Klei would look at these skills again.

Vengeful Ghost: This is exactly what a thematic skill should be. It’s niche and very fun. Unfortunately, I’m too scared to actually try it because I heard someone say you can hit friendly mobs. If that’s the case, Klei should definitely fix that. It’s also a little bit silly that Wendy does less damage with her own skill, but I guess I understand why. I just think it makes more sense for all characters to do the same damage, since physical strength probably doesn’t matter when you don’t have a body anymore.

Gravestones: These are both perfect. No notes.

Team Spirit I, II, and III: These are my favorite skills, but they would be even better if they had separate cooldowns. Also, Haunt should either have no cooldown or better RNG. If I could have one change, please give me this.

Affinities: Wendy’s shadow affinity is awesome. Cursed Vexation is great for playing in groups and even better with Luck, and Shadow Sisterhood III is a great example of a skill that is both thematic and useful. I really dislike her lunar affinity, but it does have its uses. I mostly dislike having to micromanage transforming Abigail between her regular form and her gestalt form. Gestalt Abigail is useful for bosses, but she’s less fun than regular Abigail. The affinities are pretty good though.

You're probably the first person here to say shadow Abigail is good.

Personally i find shadow Abigail overkill for most normal mobs and too grindy for any bosses except Bee Queen and Crab King. With lunar it is better to keep Abigail in gestalt form most of the time, because most mobs that fight in large groups are affected by scare and spiders can be farmed automatically with bunnymen.

Huh, I didn’t realize people didn’t like Shadow Abigail. I didn’t have affinities unlocked when her skill tree came out, so I didn’t pay much attention to that part of the discussion. I don’t mind catching bees. I have a wormhole to a killer bee biome on my main world, so it’s very quick and doesn’t feel nearly as grindy as Pipspook quests. The damage increase is very nice, but honestly I like the aesthetics and theme of Shadow Abigail the most. Cursed Vexation is the real reason to go for Wendy’s shadow affinity. With at least two players + Cursed Vexation + Shadow Abigail, it’s amazing how quickly everything goes down. Especially now that Luck has been added. I also enjoy that it doesn’t change anything about Wendy’s regular gameplay loop.

I was keeping Abigail in her gestalt form when I used her lunar affinity, mostly because I kept losing track of the moon cycle whenever I killed Celestial Champion. Using commands and managing Abigail is the real fun of playing Wendy to me, so Gestalt Abigail felt very boring. I’m also too lazy to set up farms that don’t rely on Abigail, and my friends were constantly annoyed with me for shutting down all the usual Abigail farms when they needed monster meat or something. Overall it was a very frustrating experience.

I feel mixed about this because for me this really the complete opposite against minion bosses. When I fight the bee queen, Crab King Fuelweaver or possessed varg, I can really just hold attack since regular Abigail deals with the minions so easily while gestalt Abigail makes everything feel like such a fun challenge of micromanagement and with out constantly dying since she can actually dodge on her own.

The Short/honest answer pretty much boils down to what you said with the, well, environment of the forums during the skilltree era. I feel both discussion parties for/against the skill tree went downhill catastrophically, and people really don't want that to happen again and want to suppress discussions as quick as possible regardless of what points are made. A similar thing occured with Wolfgang's rework a few years back with the mess that made and it took a long time for people to move on from that.

not to mention, if klei dare to make a rework of her tree, the tormented souls of willson, wigfrid and (possibly)woodie, wormwood will come out and drag you back down

Compared to the newer ones, most of the earlier skill trees really feel too rudimentary.

It’s still unnecessary. Both sides were rude back then, but only one side is still getting heat. I think a lot of the Wendy players who were being so awful were either banned or just left ages ago too, but plenty of people on the “other side” are still here despite what they said. It’s the main reason I pretty much left the forums. A great way to avoid it happening again would be to just not comment on perfectly polite Wendy posts if you have nothing to contribute to the conversation (general you, not you specifically).

Honestly, I hate minion bosses so I just avoid them as much as possible. I never even fought Bee Queen or Crab King with Gestalt Abigail. I did try Fuelweaver with Gestalt Abigail, but I kinda felt like she was too good at dodging and it messed with the challenge of that fight. Possessed Varg was similar. Minions are pretty easy to deal with either way if you have the right gear, and there are tons of AoE options at this point (as much as it pains me to say).

I guess I mostly enjoy the challenge of positioning Abigail and using commands to keep her alive. Bee Queen is pretty much the only fight where I’ve been able to just stand there and tank, but that’s also strategic since you’re trying to focus Bee Queen’s aggro on yourself instead of Abby.

i think the point is that begging and pleading for a wendy rework when another character is finally getting attention and while there are characters with terrible trees made when klei was inexperienced and when there are STILL characters without a tree/refresh is just *tone deaf* and *obnoxious*. because what do you mean

Quote

A year has gone by since we received an update regarding Wendy's skill tree.

should klei have updated wendy within that one year? right after a *very* long beta which left klei without a proper road map and the game lacking in updates? should wendy have gotten the attention that went into the actual game? did wendy *really* need an update that badly?

Quote

Thus far, other characters have acquired a skill tree.

what do you mean "thus far"? which "thus"? which "far"? which characters got a tree since wendy wortox walter? did all the characters in the game get their trees and i didnt know about it? people talk about wendy as if she was kicked to the curb left in the dust after being given a **** tree by klei because klei hated wendy and wanted to spite wendy's players. which WE all know it's not true, so why keep parroting the victim narrative?

it feels as if all matters of discussion about any update lead back to wendy and her tree, and you should probably know how tiring it is. i usually dont get hostile over a game, but i just dont want to hear about wendy wendy wendy wendy anymore, when it's not the end of the world if her tree does not live up to everyone's every expectation of her.

a player is entitled to their opinion and the right to be listened. but entitled shouldn't turn into entitlement

Oh hey, a rare thought out post talking about Wendy's skill tree! Nice! So rare to see those these days!

I don't have specific comments to make on it, but I just like that you highlighted both the stuff you like and the stuff you dislike. Feels like honest feedback, which is rare on these discussions.

As for why people automatically get dogpiled... Because it's annoying and the people talking about it are usually arguing in bad faith and being disingenuous, so it's hard to take them seriously,

Like how a person a few posts below yours just said that Wendy's skill tree is terrible and stuff. It's hard to have the willingness to engage in meaningful discussion when the person is obviously arguing in bad faith instead of talking about the stuff they like/dislike on the tree honestly and what points could be improved in a reasonable manner and whatnot... You were a rare exception that actually was reasonable on how you talked, so people were more willing to actually reply to you, I'd say.

I haven't seen much discussion on Wendy recently, but as far as I remember, it was pretty unanimous during the beta that Shadow Abigail was way better than Gestalt after the first Gestalt nerf.

I did see some people here and there highlight that they like Gestalt Abigail since, but as far as I know, Shadow Abigail is viewed as the better option in these forums at least. Dunno about how it is outside of these forums, since I don't pay any attention to discussions on youtube videos and whatever though.

Aaand that’s my cue to leave again. OP wasn’t begging or pleading, they were politely asking if Klei planned on looking at Wendy’s skill tree again, even if it takes a long time. That’s honestly something I would like to know as well, though I’m not actually expecting Klei to answer. There’s nothing tone deaf or obnoxious in OP’s statement. Plenty of other people are bringing up their favorite characters since Klei said they’d look at old trees, and only Wendy players get this treatment. This is one post! I’ve seen other characters mentioned a ton.

It seems like people are projecting their frustrations with the last skill tree beta onto anyone who dares to mention Wendy and her skill tree on the forums. It’s not worth me being here. Barely anyone is even interested in actually having a discussion about what could be better. Too many people would rather just be nasty. And I know Klei doesn’t hate Wendy (despite some of her gameplay elements being lacking, the aesthetics and themes of her tree are beautiful), but I think some people here do hate Wendy players.
