Either repair a broken/stranded rocket, or expand an established rocket with new/different/upgraded modules. Each existing rocket module would get its own "capsule" interiors, and themed similar to the existing Rooms system. More planetoids but they're each smaller. More varied flora/fauna and necessity to explore to keep your ship alive. The Space Station could be a thing , like you said , you can start expanding your base, fixing stuff, getting ready for access to the closest asteroid, maybe expand your base could be a must ( the new thermal door), fast building rockets or premade rockets, no printing pod , just limited to the three dupes that you choose, and then when you get out of the ship you can travel to the nearby planet and you can activated the printer pod ( you will already discover 1 or 2 ), maybe new buildings. The other thing that i'm seeing is that they already made some kind of small missions engine, the one with the asteroid on de preistoric DLC and maybe they can bring another mission with this DLC, could they now can make missions ? LaShomb Posted January 19 Share Posted January 19 A space station start would get players to using rockets and drop pods immediately instead of it being mechanics that many avoid or rarely get to. I'd assume you would start with a small space station with limited resources. Perhaps the space station could have new devices for collecting space debris for limited survivability on it's own, by collecting ice, dirt, and polluted dirt in small quantities to produce oxygen, food, and cooling. Then you have to go to the surface of planetoids to collect more useful resources and each could have a sizable portion of your space station that you have to unearth and repair to return it to space and reattach it to your station to expand the buildable area there. It could be a way to build a story or tutorial mode where new players get very specific dupes at certain times and are guided through useful approaches to problems by having those dupes provide advice. Each planetoid ends up being a sort of quest. BBP kinda made at least the Apothecary somewhat relevant for bionics gear balm and tallow gear balm and a use case for rad pills for them, but thats very little. Just like how spice grinder provides buffs to food to enhance a dupe. Doctors should make different kinds of vitamins or supplements to enhance dupes for example a vitamin that boost a dupe skill level so they can level up faster or maybe a vitamin that increase an attribute +5 for 3 cycles or something like that, can be useful for printing new dupes mid-late game, and these vitamins may even have side effects. Stuff like that is what I want to see. But unless you are willing to micromanage their pill popping, your away team will just keep eating rad pills 24/7 as long as you keep making them. Not a big deal, but far from ideal. So, the result is players avoid using these building as much as possible because using them is micro-management hell. If there ever were a use for rare materials it would be for building mid-late and late game buildings like a deep freezer with permissions and a pill dispensary than are controllable to allow for prioritization and the like. Yes, it's great to make mid-game contraptions that solve these issues temporarily, but at some point you have bigger fish to fry and the level of micromanagement needed for those mid-game contraptions lowers the fun of the game, not enhances it. I actually feel the skill trees for those could interconnect more for interesting new mechanics, similar to Mechatronics Engineering. Creativity and Doctoring could focus more on de-stressing tasks and buildings. Creativity and Tidying could combine to provide temporary building buffs similar to tune-ups or farmer's touch, like making beds, setting tables, and polishing statues. Doctoring could branch into Ranching for some Veterinary skills that focus on some advanced critter mechanics. Balms or food additives that increase scale growth. I've been wanting to see Germs get expanded and give some reasons to not just immediately work on complete eradication or avoidance. I've always thought that hatches should have better conversion rates for food covered in food poisoning; gut probiotics. Maybe Pufts like Slimelung. They should have new germs that affect critters as well and we need cures for them. Certain materials could cause other ailments to both critters and dupes that Doctoring could treat. Things like sticky, slippery, or smelly could be similar to sneezy and have funny effects. Sticky could cause dupes/critters to pick up random items wasting carry capacity for a random amount of time, until a shower, or death. Smelly could give minor stress or cause a response. Some critter could be smelly with certain foods or without a treatment. Slippery could increase the chance to stumble or a chance of dropping some materials in delivery. There are a lot of options to have interactions like Spigot Seals liking being slippery and have decreased mood without it. Having all of the Building skills in one straight line that only unlocks more building speed and the ability to deconstruct Gravitas buildings is a bit boring. I would rather see them more specialized and spread into other trees that unlock some specialized or advanced buildings. Creativity and Building could unlock building upgrades, like adding Visco-Gell to Comfy Beds for a water bed upgrade or a second output to liquid storage tanks, where the top pulls low-density liquids first and the bottom the higher density ones. Sounds like they need medicine cabinets for private bedrooms and only the dupe assigned to the bedroom can access the meds inside and are queue to take a dose when they wake up. The food systems is a lot more difficult with the goal of eating being communal. You could create individual dining/banquet halls for specific types of dupes, but they need a better way to handle the door permissions to handle that. I proposed a while back to have special doors that could be permissioned based on the hat the dupe is wearing or specific skill requirements.
