-Variant
Real quick appreciation post, I'm smiling ear to ear right now honestly. I feel like the communication has been amazing lately, ever since the last skill-tree update, to this one, I think the team has done an amazing job at being open with the community and I just wanted to take a minute to appreciate it. I'm especially happy with how this last beta went, it wasn't the flashiest update out there, but every major concern I've seen people have was either outright addressed quickly in a patch, or at least talked about, like my concerns over the waterfall, it might not've made it for the live release, but seeing the team address and talk about their plans for it just outright eases all of my worries, and its something I hope is here to stay. I'm looking forward to the future updates, even this last dev stream felt a lot more lively and whimsical, I'm stoked to see where this all goes! (P.S, totally off topic, but I LOVE the swamp skinset that just came out. Didn't feel another thread was worth the mention, but its super sick.) 40 4 4 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/168057-recent-communication-has-been-amazing/ Share on other sites

Lovens
It would be amazing if previous concerns from the past updates were addressed in a similar manner. It's never too late. But one can only dream. It's cool that you got a reply on such an obscure part of the update such as this waterfall (which to me sounds like a very minor nitpick which should only be addressed when the rest of the game is functioning properly and players are satisfied with all the parts of the update). But are we just gonna forget now about what they did in the Lunar arc? You care about this waterfall which honestly looks fine to me as of now. Meanwhile, Pearl's island, one of the most unique and beautiful landmarks of DST, an iconic place that players are guided to by the game and encouraged to build at and prettify, stays demolished as of now. This change forever ruined this part of the game many people loved and enjoyed. Not a single dev took a minute to write a reply about people's concerns about it, despite many lengthy discussions and arguments. And what about the moon gleams burning plant mobs without any decent counter-measures? Oh yeah, that still keeps happening and ruins people's enjoyment. We didn't get a toggle for this "feature" and I doubt we will. But cool they are looking into this waterfall. Must be very, very important if that warranted a reply from the devs. Edited September 19, 2025 by Lovens 4 1 2 2 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/168057-recent-communication-has-been-amazing/#findComment-1836552 Share on other sites
Captain_Rage
After Crab King was defeated with Pearl's Pearl socketed ages ago in this world and Pearl relocated to the main land the pearl reappeared all of a sudden after the Ancient Echoes update went live. Very nifty, since I forgot to paint it on a mini sign all that time ago. Cheers, Klei. :DD Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/168057-recent-communication-has-been-amazing/#findComment-1836558 Share on other sites

If "just silence and ignoring" as "Amazing Recent Communication" and it couldn't convey "Its no," then I don't think the developers meet the conditions a good communication... Even this update and the communication OP said is good, but I can't forget about the poor and rushed "Hostile Takeover" and they forced through the next one without enough cleanup, and I can't be happy. Of course, I'm dissatisfied with to destroy Pearl Island and Electrical fire, but about Warbler is still unavailable and the Finale of the Luna quest is "Wagstaff gone. The End!", I'm also very dissatisfied. We had enough reasons to dislike him already based on the animated shorts featuring him and all the annoying chores that he makes us go through to "help" him out. Furthermore, if there's a reason to dislike him, there should be a way to oppose him and not put up with his bs. We should have a choice to evict Wagstaff and build a whole new Scion arena out of the same dock tiles but in a different location. Make it costly too, I don't care. This would be a good solution to satisfy both parties - the ones who like the Pearl eviction arc and the players who dislike it and want to preserve this unique landmark. I mean I guess we could have a much harder to achieve alternative solution, but I don't see that happening. Ocean isn't THAT big imo, especially if they'll have to add more content. It's a sacrifice of progress tbh. I don't want too much development spent on this issue, that's my opinion at least, it likely might deny future additions or add more limits or even require stronger devices to handle this game. Idk I just dunno. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/168057-recent-communication-has-been-amazing/#findComment-1836772 Share on other sites

I don't even mind Wagstaff's eviction, but given the option I would rather keep Perals place where it is and move Wag to one of the moons mini islands or something. 2 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/168057-recent-communication-has-been-amazing/#findComment-1836779 Share on other sites

Gameplay involves on exploring and re-exploring areas of the map. Much of the ocean is RNG based in that way to get treasures and look for frostjaw and have enough space to sail around the world. Pack it too tight and it might feel crowded. Though I got a solution in mind and instead of having the Warbot on Pearl's we could move it to mainland instead? We'd have to turf it with substrate, relocate machinery, and place pearl back on her island once the new turfs break down. Idk if much of the playerbase have issue with how things were implemented. 1 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/168057-recent-communication-has-been-amazing/#findComment-1836780 Share on other sites

This is just my subjective, but I think it's definitely not. The current ocean is too vast and too desolate. So I'm always hoping for new islands to be implemented in the ocean. 15 minutes ago, Frosty_Mentos said: Though I got a solution in mind and instead of having the Warbot on Pearl's we could move it to mainland instead? Idk I just dunno. The majority of the ocean is currently sea stacks and nothing essential. There's plenty of space to retrofit a new setpiece, evident by the recent addition of the giant whirlpool. On the day the latest update came out I was watching a steamer for the new twitch drop. She was aimlessly sailing over her already explored ocean in the search of the whirlpool for about an hour straight before giving up and deciding to do something else. Literally nothing noteworthy happened in that hour except her sailing and checking the landscape, and occasionally eating from her polar bin and rewinding her Wanda watch back. Kinda speaks for how "crowded" and "eventful" the ocean currently is. Well, it certainly feels the same as the ocean in the real world, but as a game, I don't think paddling in the void of ocean is that much fun. I agree that the ocean is not supposed to be populated with stuff, but that's exactly why I prefer islands. We can expect a unique ecosystem different from the mainland, and if islands have special climates or rules, the survival elements that some people like can be introduced in a good way, without forcing them on those who don't like them. 19 minutes ago, Edible Coal said: they should add some ways to allow you to scan the ocean much faster Man of Culture, are you talking about that Spyglass? Quote There is a lot of content in the ocean... Especially now. Like 80% of the ocean is just empty waters and sea stacks. There are very little points of interest in it compared to the main land. If there was room to add the new whirpool, that means sure there was also room to add a brand new island for Scion arena as well.
