Changes

  • Boulderboughs
    • Drops only one twig from being chopped.
    • Sapling grow time increased to 4–5 days
    • Added desolation regrowth.
    • Boulderbough Seed is part of the Greater Depth Worm loot table
    • Adjusted Boulderbough Vine Biome loot tables.
    • Boulderbough spacing changed to be larger (Same spacing as Lune Trees)
    • Added 7 new vine loots
  • Slightly lowered the weight of items like Rocks, Bone Shards, Nitre and Flint in Greater Depth Worm’s loot table.
  • Items saved in Sanctum rooms will be LongUpdated when the room is reloaded.
  • Bridges may now be placed in the Labyrinth Maze.
  • Bridges may no longer be placed in the Sanctum rooms.

 

Bug Fixes

  • Prevent dashing actions into the pit of the puzzle room.
  • Fixed bug with Terrorclaw spawning in the Caves.
  • Fixed certain cases of mismatched topology ids, leading to Pearl’s Island having the ID of Moon Quay, or vice versa.
  • Fixed Boulderboughs not bringing up the correct loot on Moon Quay and Pearl’s island.
  • Fixed Lesser Glowberry, Glowberry, and Glowberry Mousse’s lights from disappearing when navigating the Sanctum.
  • Fixed bug preventing creatures from hopping onto boats.
  • Fixed Woodie's Goose being unable to take off correctly.
  • Fixed Sunken Chests from spawning too close to a blocker or Giant Whirlpool.
  • Fixed Sunken Chests not spawning all its potential loot, leading to Surprising Seeds having had effectively a lesser chance of being dropped.

Greater Depths Worms still needs to be worked in the 1.Spawning, 2.Punishment, 3.Strategy attack and 4. Loot department. After this it will be 100% done.

Will Ruins and some caves biomes, together with the new fumarole biome and lunar grotto + the giant whirlpool be fixed in this patch?

 

 

Btw, very surprised on the change of bridges on Labyrinth. What gives? Why this change of heart all of a sudden?

That's the type that spawns trees when there's a bunch of empty space in a forest biome.

What are the new vine loots? I'm hoping for sea sprout starters, but I think that would be on beaches.

There are three types of world regrowth mechanics and this is one of them. When an area has been cleared of entities in a biome (for example when there no trees left within a distance in one of the forests) the game will make them reappear after a while: https://dontstarve.wiki.gg/wiki/Regrowth#Desolation_Regrowth

Huh, the wiki page on regrowth has no information about mushrooms, but on the mushroom page it says they are affected, strange

This giant is very difficult to find. There should be a way to summon this boss by burning gunpowder in the caves or something similar. At least Varg (the parallel surface version) is relatively easy to find.

The information might have been copied from the other wiki that is rather old. That page is simply outdated. Mushrooms are part of world regrowth since an update from 2023: https://forums.kleientertainment.com/game-updates/dst/555166-r2000/

From my experience with it on Xbox it’s meant to be like a hound wave of the caves. Meaning that Varglet will spawn during a hound wave after the player has lived for X amount of in game days, kinda like how a player who has survived 20+ Days will have a bunch of hounds on them during a hound wave while a player who just joined the server during the Incoming Wave won’t have any hounds spawn and target them? Yeah.. like that.

Apparently your chances of encountering the giant worm goes up based on how many smaller depth worm waves you have survived (which also likely means you need to stay down in the cave shard for a significant amount of time to spawn the giant worm?)

Also a couple things to note: If a Depth Worm Wave spawned but you did not kill them all out there’s a chance you could have strays lingering around (likely hung up on the edges of terrain) that is preventing the Varglet like Giant Worm variant from spawning. Also unless Klei changed it so it despawns there’s a chance for the big worm itself to have spawned (off screen near you & you missed it or onto other players) and it hasn’t respawned because like Bearger: It’s still out there lingering in your game world Somewhere.

My advice to you if you can’t use mods to spawn yourself near the worm or the worm near you is to painstakingly comb over your entire caves shard for stray depth worms or the boss itself.

Oh yeah I should also probably mention because the Giant worm is not technically a boss and is more like the Varglet counterpart of a hound wave: That yes you actually can use the hostile flare to help force Depth Worm Waves (which includes the Bigger Worm) just don’t expect him to show up 100% of the time.

I believe the problem in the underworld, for most players, is staying there for too long (caves or ruins). It doesn't make sense for my gameplay to stay there for days just to wait for the GDW spawn. My visits are occasional. That's why GDW needs to have mechanics more similar to Varg than Varglet.

AFAIK, a varglet always replaces 5 hounds. The GDW is independent and resets its chance each time it spawns, meaning you generally won't see a another one for many waves after you've last encountered it. There's a 25 day minimum requirement, but you'll meet that by the third worm wave. IIRC, the fourth wave will have a meager 15% chance to contain the GDW on Default.

Existing depths worms can't prevent future waves. If they could, you could offload hounds/worms and be free of them forever. This is obvious misinformation.

The GDW has always despawned when left off-screen for too long. It can't linger. You've actually missed your chance by that point.

Thankfully, the spawning was changed to be near-impossible to miss. The GDW is preceded by an earthquake with a character quote, and emerges right near the target player.

My advice is to set the GDW frequency to Often or Always. If you can't do that, be prepared to spend several hours stuck in the caves.

More misinformation. It's literally in the giants tab of the scrapbook.

Hostile flares don't even spawn hounds, Mike. Did you just make that up and not test it, hoping it would be true?

From what I have tested, growing time is now 2-3 days, not 4-5 days.
By the way, since the growing time is longer now, can we get a middle stage of boulderboughs growth?

That doesn't make sense. Glow berries drop from depth worms, so what? Boulderbough roots kill the worms since they have their berries on them?
Lesser glow berries would be a better fit here instead of glow berries.

They look great, of course, but there is a one small problem.

All three corpses do not have any legs at all, as the Ancients were depicted with.

This may seem like a weird interpretation, Original Shadow Creatures, Clockwork Monsters, and Ancient Guardian have legs but don't have arms.

Some of the post-Charlie Shadow Creatures have arms, but is that because they are her creations?
