Let’s start with the old hail. In my opinion, it added a meaningful layer to worldbuilding. It felt like a direct consequence of the rifts, which I really liked, after discussing it with other players, I understand that the old hail could sometimes be annoying or even a bit underwhelming/uninteresting... but at least it had presence. You felt it in your head;  whether you were hiding under a tree for shelter or relying on the umbralla(im completely down for lunar/shadow items being useful for its counterpart).

I really miss that sense of impact with the new hail. Because now you can just walk past it and ignore it and let’s be real, the birds don’t quite hit the same way. with that being said, the new hail might be more creative and visually interesting, something the old version lacked. So rather than reverting back entirely, I think there's room to add both.

What if we had lunar rain (the new hail) and lunar hail (the old version)? This would bring more variety and depth to rift-related weather, making the world feel richer and more reactive, instead of limiting it to a single approach.

In the end i think it’s not about choosing one over the other but about enhancing the experience by combining the strengths of both. I hope you take this into consideration before beta ends. Have a nice day.

Klei might just add some damage back into it, if they feel like the damage is necessary, maybe working like the acid rain, with constant health drain as long as you're exposed. But idk, maybe we really are done with the damage side of the hail. My issue with the old one was the spam of glass, even tho it would break away, it was still annoying, specially when I was arround wobot

There is no damage from hail anymore ?

so your feeling a lack of menace with the new hail, but the older one wasn't really that, just a phase to stand still or use umbralla. I'm just waiting cus all the lunar side is kinda compassing into something:

  • The blighted frogs (yeah spring only)
  • the plants invading everything
  • reanimated bosses
  • ice penguls (yeah they were before but now the're part of the lunar side)
  • the new gestal around the player with the empowered crown
  • The cristalized state of structures.

like the world post rift is getting harder but not in a particular way something is missing you know. Just a bit more and we'll have a "hardmode".
So for me is just a matter of time.

Hail needs to stay on structures indefinitely until you clear it, and it needs to disable the structure aswell

With current implementation, this would provide the "incredible challenge" of having to hold space bar with brightshade smasher near a structure before interacting with it. Needless to say, that would quickly turn into simply an annoyance.

what if  hail could build up on the player and sort of like freeze them if it gets too much or lock your inventory so you cant change your equipment or drop stuff on the ground idk i like when weather indirectly harms the player instead of just doing damage straight up

The issue has already been solved in SW, yet I don't understand why devs don't do so in DST. Just disable hammering with space, and force right-click hammering instead.
