The last question unfortunaly no able to put under poll, so will ask separately:

You're leaving the server, without knowing for how long it will survive. What would you do?

1, Drop all items near some base

2. Drop all items where you're currently is, no need to travel to the nearest public spot.

3. Make a stash somewhere for a surprise

4. Just leave without dropping any items

  • Thanks 1

Oh no, why would you do this? 🙉

Why wouldn't you?

In pubs its the norm or should be the norm that you expect no honour from strangers.

Its fun planning around the chaos other players bring. Solo DST is easy, its playing klei pubs and surviving/progressing in spite of chaos that makes playing pubs so enjoyable.

I'd vote 1.

Last question on the poll should have an option for just saying 'No, I don't have enough to share'

Fun poll though

Well I understand eating someone's food (since if no one took it then probably no one needs it) or looting someone's corpse (probably they left the server already). I also love some smell of chaos. But as for bosses, I mostly enjoy the loot when I play solo, and when I play with others I always think like "maybe it was their first time kill" or "I can survive w/o it anyway". So it sounds so hilarious when people have "pick everything for myself" attitude 😅

I'd drop all items near the base.

For food, I'd just eat it. I assume food in base is meant to be eaten.

For trees, I'd usually just help out, unless I'm actually busy with something that I feel like I need to do now... Otherwise, sure, I can chop some trees.

Klaus loot I'd just leave for others.

For Dragonfly, I'd just leave them be, I guess? They can probably handle it if they started the fight, and I would probably be doing something else atm, so I would just continue doing that, unless someone actually asked for help... But like, I'd probably just have a log suit and a spear while walking around randomly, so I wouldn't really think I'd be able to help out much in a surprise boss battle.

For Nightmare Fuel, I'd just give it away. It's not like it's hard to get more anyways.

there was no option to eat and make a replacement meatballs so i just picked "leave it" as for the last question i drop anything that is not critical so i keep my backpack, perishables(those usually rot), some flint for a pickaxe and some grass then drop the rest either at spawn or at the nearest base to me. it is just good form.

1 Eat the meatball, no need to pretend food is scarce

2 If they can sell an interesting use for the wood, I might, but in most cases I'll ignore it, they can chop wood if they need it so badly

3 Walk away, while I'm not saying Klaus loot isn't good, but I'm so accustomed to living without it that I probably already have some alternative already made

4 Likely join the fight, if I think they are practicing solo I might go away

5 If I can't use the fuel for anything, might as well give it away

6 usually drop all items near a base, barring character specific items like Webber's whistle or Willow's lighter, although if anything important is happening in real life I'll just leave

For the first one I'd just pick the meatballs and put them in the fridge, then cook myself something else.

And for the unpolled question, I would find the most used base and drop most of my stuff. I'd keep anything cool I liked/worked hard for except like, a panflute or something similarly hard to replace.

For #2 I would say some ridiculous nonsense that's probably a blatant lie and I would absolutely refuse to budge from the stance. For example, "My copy of the game didn't come with chopping trees. It told me all my characters have scrawny arms that are unfit to hold an axe".

1. Will eat meatballs and say in chat I did it and also 'You're welcome'
2. I pretend I won't read the chat and chop some wood anyway (if I'm Maxwell that is)
3. Grab any presents I can because I know most people are like sharks in a tank for them and run away.
4.I'd join the fight if I feel like it, am always hungry for green gems
5. I'll trade my fuel if I expect them to be able to make something for me too.

Maniac gameplay build:

1. Take the meatballs, then find nearest Warly and eat meatballs in front of him while he starves to death;
2. Immediately start chopping dead trees (you technically accomplished the task);
3. Drop decoy wraps filled with spider warriors;
4. "Accidentally" bring some larvas to the fight;
5. Make up lie and say you've seen nightmare fuel lying somewhere in the ruins.

Dunno i feel like allowing and expecting complete chaos on klei pubs but obviously it never really ends up the case.

Is better than forcing everyone to be nicey nicey and rerolling after every little inconvenience that may happen or if people dont play your way.

Klei pubs are great for solo players to test their skill without rollback temptations and since more players means a bigger drain on world resources, its harder in some ways compared to playing your own solo world.

Lots of interesting questions. I've had some rough times on public servers, but what I remember most: we were in a group starting the battle against Klaus, and after dropping my backpack on the ground to use the mag, another player came and took my backpack, leaving it empty, pretending no one had seen. When questioned, he said he hadn't done it.

The way I play on public servers has changed a bit after events like this. These days, I try to be more independent and reserved (I even play without a backpack almost), but I always have a window to meet other loyal players—there always is.

1. Leave everything. (I only keep the items if I know I'll for sure come back. Usually, only when I play with friends.)

6. Just leave without dropping items, had it afew times before where I join back and got nothing which is a feel bad, if there was a player I was getting along with I'll give them most of my valuables instead.

Spoilers are just the qustions in the poll

Spoiler

1. Eat the meatballs, because I normally bring a bunch of fillers to base and the monster meat needed to make it is easy to come by

2. Explain I'm doing something else, unless I'm playing a character that can more easily gather like max, woody or wurt.

3. Pick up everything I can, and ping anything that looks valuable incase anyone else wants, the loot aside from the life giving amulates never tend to intrest me, maybe I'll make a fireproof logsuit for fun if I get scales.

4. Join in the fight, if it's a proper raid you're just smacking a dude with little risk of taking damage.

5. Trade, but I'd doubt I'd be finding myself in the ruins to craft anything :p

^ same, i do this in private worlds too

in pubs i usually only join a server once so i drop everything i have when leaving

if im playing wortox and somebody else is too, ill give them my souls (w/ jar sharing, assuming they trust me enough to) and my pan flute (if they have neutral skills). if nobody else is wortox then ill just release them at camp to top everybodys health off

if im playing wx ill give my circuits to somebody else too. if i went thru the effort of crafting these things i want other people to be able to use them in my stead
