Where did Wagstaff go?

Recommended Posts

I just threw off these screenshots to make it clearer.

At first, he learned how to move into a constant remotely.

image.png.57610b7e60eb92369a0600f6a5ffd9b9.png

He also managed to visit the exhibition.

image.png.bb41eb3ccbb72a398d3a571237695704.png

He soon learned how to move things from constants..

image.png.37a986732ac45b75dcc8cea39941eb26.png

Them he got into the portal.(Maybe in Hamlet)

image.png.0fbfd4fb0013a34c152a65c36f81e646.png

Then, again, remotely (Perhaps from Hamlet), he began to conduct research on Alter's lunar energy.

image.png.288d27709eed0091aea69d827c4fe59c.png

And after studying the energy, he escaped from Hamlet, but remained a projection.. I'm starting to get a little confused.

image.png.91f60a340314d7d657fc393312237a29.png

Wait, when did he get back?

image.png.b2c9640949bede08279bc3a9b98e915d.png

And where have the interference effects gone? Is he in constant again, but not through the spotlight?

image.png.2c76889b43de3f7480425cbe0aabd87b.png

Or is he in the real world?..

image.png.ea42e5f32955278e6d633083c110a7df.png

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Maybe I'm a little confused, or maybe I'm not, but can someone explain why when there are no survivors, it has no interference effect? How did he escape after he got into the portal at the factory? And how did he return to the ordinary world after monkey Island appeared?

I like Wagstaff as a playable character in DS [that was just being there as a projection which i considered an awesome idea for a character!] but this here is a good sum up why I am not that happy about him being a NPC in DST with all that confusion about him going on. I wish he had just stayed playable like in the single player game but I assumed they NEEDED someone as counterweight for Charlie when the moon stuff was introduced.

(but then i ignpred DST for a LOooooong time so I am missing information. Was Wagstaff introduced to DS BEFORE he got into DST like I assumed or was he established as NPC first?)

It was originally added to the original, and 3 years later in 2021 it was introduced as an NPC.

Я почти уверен, что отсутствие его статичных, прерывистых эффектов — это просто ошибка со стороны аниматоров Klei

Then the question of how he got out into the real world after creating Monkey Island remains open.

I still kind of wish they had never changed him to be an NPC since I grew attached to him being a remote-explorer in DS / Hamlet so much it just felt extremly confusing for me to return back to DST after a giant hiatus from the multiplayer game and see so many things having changed and suddenly this random quirky beloved character from the single player game being some kind of "force" inside the multiplayer game confused me xD But then I suppose it made a lot more sense to add him for Winona's character to be fleshed out and so on. I have grown ok with him being a story-driving force since the moon-stuff was added but still a big orb of some confusion to me.

^^ Also another case of the official art inconsistency stressing me. I also was confused about him being a projection or not anymore in DST now with the cinematics.

I've tried not to think about the interference effect. It could be an animation oversight, but I also know in singleplayer, he was solid at full health, and gltichy at low health. It doesn't necessarily mean that he is physically there

I forgot this! Thanks for reminding me. OK then we can just assume he's still "remote-interacting" which is kind of calming.

Wagstaff was either never in constant or he always had a way to get out of constant.

Here's my interpretation:

-He (Somehow) turned himself into a Static hologram after finding Maxwells stage camera

-(This part is the most confusing) He entered constant after the factory incident. But that was most likely his hologram and his real body never entred constant.

- He ended up in the hamlet then moved to main continent

-He used us to create a contraption to steal moons power which he used to bait Alters defens system(CC) and captured it to create the portal hes been working right now

-First experiment was the Moon quay, which ended up creating the unnatural portal then the second experiment resulted in the lunar rifts.

Other things:

-I think the hologram part is a animation error

-The carnival part we saw in the Firewood animation is not to show where Wagstaff was but to show us that the camera thats been used by Wilson is given by wagstaff himself.(This is only my theory)

wagstaff's physical body doesnt seem to be in the constant fully, like he is kinda there and is more-or-less solid most of the time but it seems that the more disturbances there are the less static his corporeal form seems to be(he is also the only being able to escape the nightmare throne)

also if i am remembering correctly wx was sent there -because- wagstaff needed a physical body to go explore the constant and a robot would be better than a living one for the job

As cool as this one is, it’s not true. This was actually a bug that affected multiple characters including Wagstaff, and has since been fixed in the most recent version of DS.

We have no confirmation of this. Wx went into a portal, that's as far as is confirmed.

We can see in his animated short how WX is violent to the point Wagstaff burns some equipment WX was working on, so it's not hard to assume Wagstaff sent WX to the constant. Wagstaff could've seen the experiment as a danger or threat so sending WX to the constant would be a good way to get rid of him discreetly. That's my theory at least.

Yeah totally, no problem with that. I think all we have confirmed is that Wx went into a portal though, I can't find a thing to say he was like a robot scout for Wagstaff :(

Also him being a scout for Wagstaff doesn't make sense considering Wagstaff can already project himself to look around anyways. But yeah I get what you were saying.

Perhaps to help him build all the portals and experiments that he has. Lucky for him, he found a desperate group of people so no robots required (except the one)

yeah, i looked back over the wiki and i guess i got my (heh) wires crossed on that. i wish i could remember where i picked that idea up from though. i know it was something someone else said though when i try to remember -where- i just get a dial tone X''D
