What’s the deal with Wanda?

Recommended Posts

Wanda’s whole gimmick is about time yet her playstyle never really seems to revolve around it in any way whatsoever. She is basically a medic that can teleport, similarly to Wortox. Oh and she has a strong weapon depending on her age/health or whatever. I feel like Klei really missed out on giving her some kind of time related ability so she has some identity. like say a special kind of glasses which allows her to “see into the past” This pair of glasses will be able to see structures such as and natural resources that have been destroyed like beehives and cactuses. Anyways she can use this paired with the aging watch thingy to regenerate those lost structures. That will make the character more time related rather than another support.

To make this not too overpowered items left from a destroyed structure in a general area cannot be rewinded if collected.

her own special beef revival clock when /j but also /truth

I think it's kinda stupid that beefs are completely gone if well, something catastrophic happened. Plenty of new players rely on beefs to dissuade hound waves/Deerclops/Bearger, others love killing them for le funny beef hat, etc etc. In rifts worlds, brightshades can target those grass tufts at savannah and you just know beef in heat will aggro onto anything thus bringing their own demise.

Ironically this is a case of not paying enough attention to how her abilities work and how they affect your gameplay her whole gimmick is saving time and cutting down on common grinds. Her ageless watch allows her to be careless outside of combat since it's a self regenerating healing item making a Wanda player more willing to do things like pick cactus unarmored, eat monster meat, and other harmful activities that most characters avoid to preserve stats. Her backstep watch is mostly flavor but it sends her a short hop back in time in order to help you dodge attacks. The backtrek watch is there to cut down on travel time as she hates wasting time you're acting traveling back in time to the point you set when using the skill which is why it even sends you between shards. The alarming clock is the only one that's kinda weird theme wise but gameplay wise you save time by not needing another weapon and shortening fights with higher damage the weapon being fueled by nightmare fuel also leans harder into the idea that you can be more careless with what you eat and sanity management outside of major encounters.

To summarize her entire skillset revolves around saving as much time as possible by cutting down on the less interesting tasks like walking and cooking.

Personally in my opinion if they were to design a skill tree for her they should lean harder into her time saver gimmick for example give her expensive watches that could reset a boss respawn timer or delay a hound/worm wave. Perhaps also a skill that just slows down how fast her health counter drops when she gets hit giving you more time to save yourself from a lethal hit.

I yearn for season clocks(watches that would allow you to temporarily make it a certain season in a short radius).

That would also be really cool Wanda's theme really opens the door to some really creative ideas.

I kinda wish just to be consistent with her animated lore shorts that she was actually constantly being chased by shadow creatures, regardless of age or sanity (it could even be tied to a cooldown like personal hound waves) I just wish that…  nightmare creatures in actual gameplay behaved the way they do in her animation (slinking and disguising from shadow to shadow)

While it would probably blow up old PCs and the Xbox One/Ps4, I am certain the Series X would be more than capable of such a feat. In the mean time: I’m playing a cool Minecraft mod that actually lets shadowy monsters spawn from and hide in object shadows and I can’t help but think… Dang Wanda’s gameplay needs to be this.

AND if she got that challenge/downside, I’d even be “okay” with letting her have more broken features such as clocks that rewind or speed up the area around her in an AOE or whatever.

It is consistent. She was being chased because she was outside of the constant. You can even see as soon she enters constant, the shadows are not chasing anymore. Wanda is where shadows want her to be. The final scene does include Wanda’s shadow turning into a shadow hand, but if the shadows actually wanted to continue chasing her, it would have turned into a terrorbeak or a crawling horror.

I'm not sure if this is supposed to be a goof on Wanda type of post but she's fairly consistent in being a time traveler themed lady. Of course, more could be added, but she is generally solid in her design intent without a skilltree or more perks. She does need a clock storage tho, and with her skilltree we need to have label we could put on items or pets.

Like being able to restore destroyed beehives and make more bee boxes even though someone already killed all of them for no reason? That would be cool.

btw pearl beebox cannot be destory, so feel free to steal her bees

I like to separate the big groups pretty early. A couple in the underground, a few on moon Island, etc etc.

Also hear me out, what if Wanda’s alarming clock is able to freeze time for the creatures it kills. Making them dead and stuck in time like in some kind of stasis suspended animation state, this will prevent them from rotting until Wanda decides to unfreeze them.

They just relive being yo-yo'd in the face repeatedly until Wanda decides they can die.

Every couple of years I read the first thing on this board that draws my attention.
Are you referring to the original (killer) bee hives? If not, I have this totally easy and quick method of building bee boxes when somebody has griefed your server.

1) Summon Bee Queen and hit with pointy end of stick until dead.

2) Loot bee queen crown.

3) Hit Dragon Fly with pointy end of stick until dead.

4) Loot green gem.
5) If no thulecite anywhere anymore

summon Ancient Fuelweaver and hit with pointy end of stick until woosh
    else loot thulecite.

6) Craft deconstruction staff

7) Deconstruct bee queen crown

8) Go to Dragonfly Desert and loot tumbleweeds until they have dropped 4 living bees.

9) Build bee box == Profit!

My pleasure.

That is not quick and easy. If you want to get even enough bee boxes to let a single person obtain a stack of honey you need to farm one of the hardest bosses in the game for 6 hours.

Main downside fixing?

*cough* woodies lunar alignment *cough*, jokes aside just slower aging/more damage/just simple buffs would be really boring, it'd be like wolfgangs where most of the skills just buffed what he already had, and we all know how that turned out, powerful, but exhaustingly boring, it'd be a lot nicer if she actually got unique perks and skills instead of simple buffs

If Wanda's skill tree ends up having a bunch of three-skill-branches that amount to increasingly underwhelming buffs I will be heartbroken

@Balter Did you typo your username when you meant "Baiter" instead

Don't fall for it guys.

This is called the Time-Reversing Space, and Wanda has a special way of entering it.

In this space, there is a clover with only three leaves. Help her grow the fourth leaf, and the probability of obtaining rare items will be significantly increased.
The probability of obtaining valuable items from Sunken Chests in the ocean will also boost.
