We are happy with the current Wortox tree layout and choices players are making with it for the different ways to play the game and the character. A mid to late game Bug Net was needed to be created before the Knabsack can be a Bug Net alternative and will be going out with the Walter changes. Some visuals for the Knabsack need polished to give it its hefty weight and we will see what we can do with that.

Thanks for information! Can't wait to see Walter & Wortox patch

Haha please no more Wendy, this last batch is more than enough.  It's time for the other characters and the rest of the game.

She's probably right that there are still some flaws. But this is like the worst time and place to say that...

Thanks for the communication -

Could we at least give some thought to it being legitimately impossible to make a nice Wortox build for solo players without assigning points that do nothing at all?  That issue really takes away from the choices and options available to people that you were mentioning above.

There are a bunch of other issues (soul decoy 2, cloudy carmen) that it wouldn't be terrible if we ignored and pushed to live, but this one is not great.

The changes of Wendy is great, I mean the part of which inspired by community ideas.

But I guess there's have to point out that for these two patches Wendy's power was only nerf and nerf. Though functions was on good direction but not enough. So I guess some people would still dissatisfied or even they are would be trigger by the continuously nerf of Wendy.

This is just a reminder I believe I should speak out.

For my personal view, I believe Lunar Abby is still need buff. The function of Lunar Abby's attack frequency diminishing relative with Wendy's attack is enough for fixing her issues of balance. The hiding mode was an extra nerf and it did makes the Lunar Abby become invalid When Shadow line is still Swiss knife kits.

And Yes please make Lunar Abby being valid for experienced players, your newest work for her mutate function is really cool I DO want to have a reason to choose her line but not only "for aesthetic reason".

As I remembered, Yifei was tested the AI of Lunar Abby with most details before. I personally lack of PC these days but I believe Yifei would give more feedback of Lunar Abby lately. Could be continue to balance the Lunar Abby to makes her become competitive to Shadow Abby for veterans? (Tbh her hiding mode already makes her being not a good choices to newcomers...)

And I personally hope soul jar and Lunar affinity of Wortox Could be recheck.

It seems like a great unfairness that Soul Jar of Wortox is tolerable for balance but Lunar Abby and many stuffs of Wendy were not. And Lunar affinity of Wortox is imbalance And boring.

Thanks for the answer!

I was hoping you'd look into Cloudy Carmine, but maybe someone found a use for it in your testing.

At this point I just don't see this ending well Wendy got the last major update before the break as well as the first and second beta update of the year to herself at this point unless there's a massive overhaul happening to Walter's skill tree I just feel like there's going to be a lot of disappointment going around...

While I do think that Wortox is currently the best designed one so far, I do feel there are quite a few pain points that could be ironed out to encourage more variety (especially with how over reliant soul jars are for a majority of "meta" builds) and a few small personality tweaks to make him fit better.

This post in particular highlights the former, and this post highlights the latter.

I hope these can be considered, as I do feel they would give a bit of polish that he could use.

I know. Unfortunately, it's what happened. We've been (largely) unanimous about the pain points on the skill tree, other than the way Soul Jar is handled, and it's been that way for awhile.

I'm gonna post my final writeup on Wortox soon and dismiss myself from the beta. I've invested way too much of my time into this, clearly. But I know I did everything I could to try and help Wortox be the best he can be, so at least I'm satisfied with myself.

The only things about the Wortox skill tree that I wasn't super fond of was the cloudy carmen and the affinity skills being tied only to a specific weapon/armor, I don't really understand the individuals here who think that Wortox needs a complete overhaul since Wortox is more fun than he's ever been

Looking forward to the Walter changes, Wendy definitely looks to be on the right track

  • Fixed being able to bypass Wendy’s Team Spirit skills cooldown.

What you guys should do is drastically lower or even remove the cooldowns on them! They're so much more fun if they don't have them, and it doesn't make Wendy overpowered just to be able to control Abigail more directly.

i don't think he needs a complete overhaul, to be clear, i was just looking forward to seeing a few more tweaks to him before the beta ended.

i also hope that walter gets some good changes soon! ive been very excited to see those ^_^

I don't think there were many calls for a complete overhaul. What were you talking about?

I can’t test out Wendy’s affinity changes, though they’re probably fair. The others sound good to me!

Any chance of a buff to haunt RNG? I know it was talked about back in November. It would be nice to know whether I should stop hoping at this point.

Maybe a lot of the wortox opinions ive seen have been from the same person, though I have seen a few people with that sentiment

I just always considered Wortox to be in a fairly decent state who doesn't need as many changes as people seem to think

didnt really mean to imply that some people want to completely overhaul, just that drastic changes were desired for a lot of the tree

Heh, these changes are pretty good, and it's nice to see some communication again, but ngl, reading through the hotfix and seeing only wendy again was kinda funny.

Glad the shield elixirs are more interesting/viable now with the wreath, also moon moths <3

i would have to say its pretty decent, tho having to take covetous collector. a 3 point investment that also affects soul decoy 3 51(63) damage as well as soul pierce  1 and 2 a 4 point investment 25(31) damage and make nabsack remotely do any damage 34(68) which takes a full inventory to do on top of 3 jars and 100 souls doesn't feel great. neither does reverberation which doubles the damage/survivability from the affinity talents.

including pleasant pastoral and itself that is 12 skills affected by covetous collector

don't get me wrong. the tree is good, but I feel like I am shoehorned into certain decisions when each of the nice side lines is unique and doesn't have any crossover. Like individually the skills are cool, but it is having to take the ones that tie down the others doesn't feel great.

p.s. soul decoy 2 lasting longer when it gets one shot doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Walter stuff IS coming. The last couple updates has had Wendy stuff, so it might look like it's superseding Walter stuff. That is not the case. Walter's tree has been worked on in parallel. The Walter stuff will come to the Beta when it is ready.

All of these minimal changes, AND it's mostly Wendy-centric as well, are building up the anticipation for Walter and Wortox, especially when Walter was shipped off with 1/3 of a complete skill tree. All we've ever heard was "changes are coming", no manifesto, no update philosophy, thought process, etc. nothing to paint a picture for the players. Expectations have been vague, and us players have been left in the dark waiting for so long.

I hope the skill tree and you guys can live up to the expectation. I don't think the backlash will be severe, but I know the disappointment will be immense.

It does hamper the ability to give feedback when I don’t know whether the feedback needed is new ideas, ammo feedback, or a response to changes that haven’t even been released. And on a more personal level, I feel like I’m juggling between trying to keep my expectations low and focusing on the bare essentials and convincing myself that because it’s been so long, surely there must be a massive set of changes coming.

I'm probably one of the most "extremist" Wortox play testers here, and even I don't want an overhaul. What I want would require a fine tuning in several places, but it's really just because of my qualms with the Soul Jar's (and Nabsack's) implementation, as that item touches (or tramples on) almost everything in the skill tree. I don't think it's a careful or nuanced way to solve his historical issues as a character. The current design framework is generally acceptable, though unpolished and lacking in cohesion.

its just a hard pill to swallow when wendy got 3 tree revamps, condesings, layers stacked on top of skills, and several new crafts over the course of the beta. and walt got his slingshots cut in half to double, grips tweaked, Woby skills condensed even tho you cant pick more than 2 lvl 2 woby talents when u can talent 5 on walter, and larger ammo stacks
