Don't Starve Together Beta Extension Information

I don't wanna be annoying but why wasn't Willow and Wigfrid skilltrees delayed the same time a year ago, with obviously unfinished(still is) Sharkboi? Because Wendy has bigger player base?
Please always take your time with them! And please, release skins with not being tied to updates so we can support the game with money, really!!

Have nice holidays!

They already said before that they were planning on releasing the update before Christmas and making the bigger changes to Woby after the break

That and the changes to Wendy are apprently mainly aesthetics? That partnconfuses me a lot,  I have no idea what that would entail. I could see the shadow line getting a visual overhaul to be more unique from regular Abby, and team spirit 1 getting changed too, but idk if thats worth delaying the beta over, and theres a bunch more things that need to be done to balance.

Edit: I could see the shape of the tree getting altered too, its presently very cramped.

No thanks, I'm so happy about its existence and I feel like an actual teleporter compared to Wanda and Winona now. Its nerfing/removal would just add more tedium to soul grinding, I'd rather keep doing it all at once and enjoy the satisfying flow of countless souls towards me with a good setup, rather than make multiple smaller setups around the map like before.

That's literally the problem I have with the implementation. It's nothing against you or the people who like having 300 Souls on your person, but it's just Willow 2.0 and it's boring, even if it's easier. It should have been scaled from the start to check the pulse on public reception. I assure you that you would appreciate it even if it were balanced better, because it really wouldn't take much to fix the accessibility issue. The Soul limit was Wortox's primary downside, not the hunger penalty. He's just incredibly free and without any real downsides now, which I guess some people might like, but it's uninteresting to me. (It also kinda defeats the purpose of many of your skills making Souls more efficient to begin with.)

But it doesn't matter anymore. It's way too late to change anything this big, and they spoiled us from the get-go. So oh well, I guess. Can't change the past.

They probably meant making the elexirs drinkable without dragging it to your hat.

I wouldnt call that aesthetic though. Aesthetics is purely visual -

a set of principles concerned with the nature and appreciation of beauty.

Hello JoeW, I wonder if it's possible to make unique interactive animations for other characters' exclusive containers.ctner.png.8b3b99a5effdb1cd75099b9cc5ad274d.png

It doesn't really defeat the purpose, more like complements them. If I go through 200 souls over 5 days and not 2.5, that's a W worth 4 points to me. Reverberation already gatekeeps half the effectiveness of either alignment too.
That said the 20 limit really was only a downside for earlygame, the availability of souls stopped being a problem once I had bee stations around the map so it was really just sheer annoyingness and tedium of farming to refill the stack of 20 after each teleport, so I don't think it served well as a downside anyway. If anything it annoyed me into swapping to Wanda which may have been the only real progression Wortox had before skill tree. Also, dedicating a third of my inventory to souls is also a downside of its own; That's less space than Wheeler, but I essentially exchanged one limitation for the other.
I would say half-sanity from food is already a worse downside than most of the cast.

I know there is some controller support work to be done, but it's still being worked out so I can't really say much more.

This was my biggest concern, thank you so much for looking into this

this goes againt how ghosts are portrayed in the game. abigail would not look like she belongs in dst anymore if she looked like that

No, you don't need hundreds of souls when it now takes only 10 to go across the entire map with Capricious Movement and without using wormholes as shortcuts. It doesn't complement it, it exacerbates it. Wortox also receives less sanity drain than other characters, making the sanity food issue less important, and completely irrelevant with a Void Robe for any character who doesn't use the Enlightened Crown in combat to begin with.

The inventory complaint is strange to me when you directly mentioned Wanda as one of your alternatives and she also struggles with inventory clogging. This is also made mostly irrelevant by good habits and several inventory management options in the game, especially later on, and you don't need more than 3 jars until you start spamming Soul Hop post-rift for damage boosts with Soul Decoy + Shadow alignment. Characters like Willow and Winona have it way, way worse than us. We don't deserve to complain about inventory.

I too wanted more than 20 Souls, and 40 with all these other skills would have been amazing. Instead we got Killer Bee grinding and an unkillable character. Iunno, man, I'm just bored now after 6 years of playing him with limits and those limits being entirely removed instead of improved. It's just grinding a resource and putting no thought behind excessive usage. It's the same loop as Willow, but utility, survivability, and support over damage (an EASY trade.) I seriously don't know how you die as this character without being neglectful of armor or stunlocked by Splemonkeys or a teammate sabotages you or something. We're beyond spoiled by jars.

tbh I'm not sure this is the right thread for a full discussion of the subject, but I have much more to say about it. Either way, it's not going to change, so it's not like there's anything to really gain out of it. You're under no real threat of the devs reevaluating this choice.

Neither Wanda nor Winona have more than one inventory slot occupied for their teleports. Wanda only needs a watch to her terminal(probably a base area with other backtreks marked in chests with items, and swapping out for a dupe terminal watch to bypass the cooldown) from which she will teleport elsewhere. Winona only needs to carry one breller, and she can swap it out for another at any of her teleport stations which can house one spare each that is 100% at all times, leaving the used-up one to be charged by the enlightened shards. Having even one jar means you dedicate more inventory to teleporting than either of them. You could say Wortox can also use no jars and only use one slot for souls but that's back to square one.

It was never a matter of need, but want. Once set-up, Wanda and Winona don't take any grinding, let alone needing to do it inbetween two teleports. It simply is so liberating to be able to teleport smoothly without refills for a long time. With the other two, everything always felt two clicks away, but with Wortox it was more like one click, one brainless bee-killing session and another click away. Each time. That said Wortox's sanity IS quite annoying pre-rifts, which for most people occupies a while of their game time in a world. Obviously nearly no one has an impactful downside by lategame but you could probably omit the "by lategame" in the viewpoint of many critics.

Tbf being neglectful of armor is how people die like 90% of the time in my experience. Procuring healing isn't insanely hard, I just get by with butterfly wings when I'm someone else. That said, you could make it so individual souls heal less the more jars you have and I wouldn't particularly care. I was using jellybeans before the skill tree and I'll probably use jellybeans again after. I'll take being spoiled in one aspect after so many years after abominations like reworked Maxwell set foot in the constant. Wortox's healing was already "insanely broken" for newbies even when they didn't have jars and mundane for skilled players, I don't think it makes any issue that much worse.

I don't think the post was expressed clearly because of the strange translation. What I drew was not a ghost, but Gestalt Abigail,It is the effect of Wendy's longing and the power of the moon,I don't want it to be just a bubble like it is now.Image_86832117853698.jpg.b61e52de8c132c903d42a6851b65175e.jpg

I didn't mean inventory clogging in the context of quick travel. I meant it in the context of all character specific perks. Souls do way more than just teleporting when they also provide iframes, damage, healing, and hunger. 5-6 inventory slots for all of this when it saves me on inventory slots for other resources is an excellent trade.

It's not really a problem. Hell, I usually make myself insane intentionally as soon as possible for a Shadow Manipulator. You actively need Nightmare Fuel early on and by time you don't, you can just use a Tam or even a Top Hat, or just pick flowers if you need to get rid of Nightmares in a pinch. Non-Naughty builds can also actively heal their own sanity too. Passive positive auras do a lot more for Wortox than other characters due to the reduced drain on negative auras. It's proportionally more significant. Also, I don't think calling post-rifts late game is accurate. It's not very difficult to dedicate your first 25 days to ruins -> Shadow Pieces -> Fuelweaver, and Wortox himself needs a lot less prep and can do a lot of this quicker than many other characters. By time rifts open on day 30ish, you haven't even killed Deerclops yet. But even at a slower pace of day 41 or 61 Shadow Pieces, you can make a Top Hat on day 1 and get a Tam on day 21 and put a stop to the sanity issues. I think this is just par for the course for a character you pay for, though, and I think it's good to have characters that require better game knowledge and learned problem solving skills. I also don't really think Wortox was initially designed with new players in mind, kinda the same way as Wanda or Wormwood.

Sure, but Wortox also consumes less armor than any character besides Wanda. It's not about healing, it's about kiting. He just doesn't take damage and even when he does, he can just heal it without any significant prep that he wouldn't do otherwise. Also, I'm a Batbat enjoyer myself, but Jelly Beans used to be great too. I still use it even in the beta until I have the time to get jars set up after Fuelweaver.

Please, ugh, don't bring up Maxwell. He's not the standard we should strive for. We all hate him, even players like me who gave him a lot of playtime post rework. In fact, my playtime with him made me hate him even more. I would rather see Maxwell get fixed than anyone else get buffed to his level of broken. Infinite trapping is just... why.
