This is not true.  Her damage per attack got reduced but Her attack frenquency got increased from 1 attack every 4,5 seconds to 1 attack every 3,5 seconds and her hex/petal debuff duration got increased which resulted in her DPS while attacking with Wendy being kept mostly the same from that  video you mentioned to the current patch, what they did was transfer part of the contribution of the DPS from Gestalt Abigail to Wendy Attacking besides her. You can see  videos from the current patch showing Wendy and Abigail DPS tests is this post:

Gestalt Abigail problem is not DPS, its her survivability to AOE and how little agency/control the player has on making Gestalt Abigail dodge some of those AOE attacks.

The gunpowder round are not worth it to use it as an AOE projectile since the rng makes it worse than glass rounds and stinger round witch do consistent damage always ,and i suggest making the critical strike to trigger on 3rd consecutive hit always, or make the plash always trigger but always deals the same amount damage as the normal one 59.5

I got a couple ideas that could smooth out Wendy's skill tree. I didn't want to make a thread cause I'm honestly tired of seeing Wendy threads and I'm sure other's are too.

1. Blessed sisturn 3- While abi is max hp and resting at a sisturn using unyielding drought gives +100 shield, distilled vengeance is +300 shield to abis max health. The healing elixirs increase the rate at which abi gains shield at a sisturn. 

2. Dark petals- Purifying dark petals costs -X hp (Wendy absorbs the evil) instead of costing a mourning glory.

3. Butterfly Revive- Reduce the cost to 2 mourning glory and -15hp. 

4.Team spirit 1- Escaping and de-summoning serve the same purpose; instead abi and Wendy share each other's pain with:

Pain split- A spell similar to maxwell/willow that costs 2 mourning glories to use. Takes both Wendy and abigails remaining health % and splits it evenly between the two.

So if Wendy has 100% hp and abi has 1% hp they will share each other's pain and split it so both will have 50%~ hp. 

5. Mourning glory hat- Using unyielding drought gives Wendy a 20-30hp shield (temp max hp). Potions don't stack, armor works. 

Distilled vengeance  Gives Wendy a 50-90 hp shield and every time she takes damage she reflects 20 dmg while the shield is up. Potions don't stack.

6. Gestalt Abigail- Increased her damage to 300 per hit.

7. Grave revive- Reviving players rewards Wendy a random chance between 1-3 mourning glories to incentives Wendy to revive her friends. (Add some kind of cooldown between revives and per player revived)
