The Fourms went mental after what Jason said about Wendy. Theres barely any other threads talking about the characters skill trees.

Sadly why devs generally don't communicate much as one small sentence no matter how inconsequential can have drastic impacts.

Wendy is the main reason a lot of people play the game, and it's not even related to her utility, but more related to the character being "cute" to them, mostly a child version of barbie, except creepy. Which is fine of course, but I'm not sure what they'd expect of the skill tree for her.

Maybe if they eventually start making constructive posts with, some kind of consensus of how should Wendy be, they will most likely generate get a new "Wormwood skill tree" situation, where the skill tree is remade until perfect. But just making hundreds of angry posts will certainly not go well in the long run.

I don't really play Wendy often so I really don't know if the skill tree is good or not, I find it to be the least appealing to try out of the three we have. So there's that.

Of course hers is the "least appealing" to you; pre-skilltree, she already felt more "complete" in comparison to the other characters currently in the beta.

I can’t say I agree, her entire pre-beta skill set was just Ectho potions, and they don’t even see much use as is.. The Skill tree which should add cool new stuff is mostly just buffing what she already did.

And when you compare that to say Wigfrid (already a top tier pick pre-skill tree) Wendy doesn’t have a shield that grants full damage immunity if timed correctly, or a weapon that repairs its own durability shes just in my opinion after so many reworks, re-reworks, and skill tree tune ups..

Pretty basic.

Wortox & Walter skill trees could also use a second glancing over when compared to prior skill trees like Willows.

Chick can legit set Bernie on fire now AND trigger his big/small forms at will better. And that’s on top of the fire absorbing (hilariously making her one of if not the best things to put out potential wildfire spread)

All three of these characters need a little more time to come up with really cool creative stuff.

True Klei took “a little more time to cook” but if no one is enjoying the meal.. they need to cook some flavor into it.

And with that said, I honestly would not care if they needed to Delay the official updates release up until literally the day before the 2025 roadmap. Just please do not rush fleshing out these characters who could really use more fun new stuff! :wilson_love:

I agree, she IS pretty basic.

But i dont think its a bad thing.

Moving and making more graves is a lot of qol to gather mourning glories

Making a grave also lets you dig said grave for more graveyard loot, something which is really handy early midgame

Graves also spawn ghosts every full moon, you can make a ghost army with wendy if you plan this right (not a main benefit, but a fun mini benefit)

More mourning glories per hunt is very handy, my wife (who mains wendy) loves it

Being able to passively generate nightmare fuel is a good idea for newer players who might struggle against Nightmare creatures.

Them changing the veil to allow wendy to tank for abigail will give abigail the survivability she desperately needed against later bosses

I think wendy could use one or two more positive perks, but her tree is more full of QOL than wigfrids was. Her day to day playstyle will be a lot easier, giving her some non combat utility, while also boosting her combat potential significantly.

Honest to god, i think they did pretty dang good with it. Its obviously not anything crazy, but tbh none of the skill trees other than winona and willow did something crazy that completely revamped the character.

And winona and willow kinda struggled with an identity. Winonas catapults were shareable, and willow was really a less convenient wendy. Now willow has fire powers and winona has transportation powers.

Wendy not only has an identity, she's a damn good character. Shes fun to play and friendly for newer players. She already got a lot of what she needed in her rework, the skilltree is just expanding on it a little more, with a more boss capable abigail, a way to make abigail tougher, and some out of combat benefits to wendy.

I do think itd be cool if wendy could make something to heal other players with mourning glories though.

if you ask me wendy isn't creepy, it's the wendy mains that are.

The option is a little buried in this forums clunky UI but you can block users and you will not see their posts anymore.

that doesnt apply when you use the "unread content" button at the top/bottom right. it won't tell you what the person said but their threads and posts still show up

But you still don't see what they wrote. So what's the problem then?

I don't understand. Ignore seem to be working as intended.

if there are 15 new rposts since you were last on the forums and you check "unread content" you will see there are 15 new posts. if 14 of them are from blocked people you still have to look at all 15 new posts to find out if there is anything worth reading even though 14 of them are not something you want to see at all and would not click on AND have told the automated system you don't want to see. it can be aggravating and bloat up that section for the user.

that all being said i dont want a 5 hour debate with you about whether or not it is meritorious i am just telling you what a problem would be in this case.

Well if someone's very existence on the forums triggers you then there is not much you can do about it.

Ignoring feature is for not seeing posts from someone you dislike on the forums. Not for deleting the user from the forums.

Also if you didn't want to "debate" with me about the semantics of the Ignore System then why did you write such a reply to me about said system in the first place?

because it was information that your comment implied you did not have and i wanted to be helpful and let you know about it. sharing information is a common part of forum interaction if it helps you good, if it helps someone just reading good, if it doesnt help anyone there is no loss. me feeling neutral and providing information should not lock me into a long protracted debate with another user, you know?

Helpful? Your posts sounded rather pedantic regarding to what i initially said to OP about the Ignore Feature. Like you really wanted a meaningless debate about something that OP didn't even considered as an issue.

Use Notification Settings in tandem with Ignore Feature. If the mere popups in activity of someone despite you not being able to see their posts is aggravating you so much. Done.

I don't see what the problem is that you're having, really. Other than starting and continuing a pointless argument with me that you claim you don't want.

where are the forums administrators? Ain't sustaining forums' healthy atmosphere part of their duty?

Probably busy coming up with new ideas for Wendy, Walter & Wortox’s skill trees.

And no I’m not joking about that, Wurt & Wormwoods skill trees both went through this process.. they released as uninteresting, devs then spent the next 2-3 weeks after that gathering feedback and picking out all the best suggestions that were popular to really give those characters new content and also fix most if not all the complaints people had about them (Wurts horrible Merm AI & Merm King upkeep)

I say we give them time to cook up good cool things, and we as forum members can make their jobs easier by NOT needing to pull their attention away from working on the next hotfixes to moderate the Forums.

I cant imagine whats gonna happen when we get to Wanda or Maxwell.

Oh boy, I bet Maxwell will bring up way more heat, his character is specially good for the efficient farming stuff

The beta forums are not a very friendly and chill place right now. Can we do something about that? Blocking derogatory posts and comments for a while so the feedback is constructive, instead of pure hate for no reason.

Apart from the blocking, you can report the people that is clearly acting in bad faith, like that mfker that told Klei to hire "real devs" or the ones making financial threats

I bet they'll have to nerf shadow prison specifically, like adding a cooldown to it. Maybe with perks to bring it back up a bit to near what it was.

7 minutes ago, Fitzee said:

The chances of them nerfing a character at base just to give the power back in the skilltree is unlikely, even it would make sense; it'll just cause another outcry, though probably not to the extent of this beta.

However, Wortox's naughty/nice inclinations have proven that they're willing to introduce downsides when you invest enough into a skilltree, so it's possible that same route could be taken for Maxwell; it would also fit the shadows' theme of "gaining more power at a price".

They've toyed with nerfs before, but you're right, never directly. Closest I can think of is Winona catapult arming, or the batch of nerfs that affected everyone in order to make Wanda's whip less powerful.

I like the idea of Wortox-like downsides for his best perks.
