for some reason

The reason is griefing, in DS using that and destroying your whole base were consequences of your own actions, in DST any random newcomer can (and will) use it to destroy other people’s efforts, for fun.

Currently you can destroy bases in many other ways, yes, I’m not saying that’s not a thing, but I don’t think they should add a new one, specially one that would be so tempting for that purpose.

Old bell'in people's bases would create peak funny moments.

Imagine you are cooking an excessive amount of dragonpies in your kitchen setup, when all you heard is a "ding ding ding", next thing you know a giant foot with a brain on the top, wipes out your base and one shots you.

It would be the only form of griefing that I would 100% support.

The same destruction to bases can be done with 1 torch.

I agree to bring it back. The first time I saw a giant foot, I was shocked. It made me understand the true meaning of "Reign of Giants". ROG without Old Bell is incomplete. There are many ways to grief in games, such as setting fire, igniting hostile flares, planting spider nests, etc. Preventing such situations should be done through broader means, and banning a certain item is not appropriate. Klei can grant players item management privileges, allowing administrators to decide whether an item can be used by others, thereby reducing the occurrence of griefing.

Hammer and torch take more effort since now we can just take fire out and hammering would be too obvious to ban that person if possible on sight. Old bell destroys things in a line from each foot's jump at random, it brings a lot more random destruction that isn't needed.

Also, old bell is cool but a very weird thing. Thus it's banned from being able to craft. I wish though it would be back but without the big foot, maybe something to use for talk with plants or to seek attention with by ringing the bell.

It's crazy how limiting people want the game because of a few bad actors or "What if"s. Damn I guess we got to get rid or torches, hammers, flares. While we're at it lets remove walking because someone can lure a boss or something to someone. No attacking either because you might hit something and lure it back to base or ruin someones beef taming. No more ghost either, wouldn't want to have others sanity drain for people intentionally dying. Like what? But seriously I think the game needs a lot more first before we get the old bell. It would be cool though.

Fires don't spread as quickly as they did in singleplayer, and there's plenty of ways to extinguish them once they've started.

Once you ring the old bell, you'd probably have to shut down the server to stop it from annihilating an entire area at once.

That would be amazing, but the reason why the old bell isn’t in DST isn’t because of griefers (yeah don’t flatter yourselves trolls) it’s because the item would be way too OP. It’s basically the equivalence of calling in a tactical nuke THREE times.
