Theoretical strongest and cheapest non bq crown sanity station?

I was theorizing something that fits this criteria:

- Can be starightforward to get later game

- Can be plonked everywhere

- Giver a lot of sanity/min for a quick AFK

- Does not take any significant resources to run

- Can be started fast

 

 

So far you can do a setup like:

- Fired up lamb shrine tier 3

- Sisturn with 4 petals

- polar light (quite cheap to place one, once you have the staff

- wear on head: CC crown, tam, or desert goggles

- wear on chest: thule suit, hibearnation, scale mail, or dapper vest

- glommer nearby

- fruit fly nearby

- pudgy beefalo a bit overkill, but it is possible to get with time and a good twig farm

This one gives around 2 sanity per second

And you can have a lazy deserter nearby to reduce sanity by clicking it

This would be low cost sanity manipulation. More relevant in modded playthroughs to be honest, but I am interested in knowing the limits.

 

Anything else I am missing?

I just like not using it, having natural sanity

It's more for roleplay reasons. I like thematically to be surrounded by cozy things, and making a base build around the station that also increases my IRL sanity.

Old sanity station evil flower and bq crown is back as you can plant flower super close now, but my take would be:

Banas, twigs, and crocpots.
Can be planted on anywhere.
Work on all season.

Else with all the limit "no crown", "only natural sanity gain" and also post on the post with all highest sanity gain item possible, what the point of asking?

Food wise, I have infinite jelly salads or taffys, I don't want sanity via food. That is for on the go.

I want AFK sanity while being cozy and chatting with people in base.

Hibernation vest or theuslite suit. I also suggest bringing cc over to your station for an easy 400 sanity a minute

This wont be cheap, but after setting up it wont cost much to maintain.
40 Pudgy beefalos. All you need is **** tons of twigs (can be easily farm with books + an extended chest.)

Very cozy with all the wools.

 

- Can be starightforward to get later game (Can get 40 beef after they multiply a bit)

- Can be plonked everywhere (can use bell to deliver them to anywhere)

- Giver a lot of sanity/min for a quick AFK (We are talking about 40 Pudgy beefalo here)

- Does not take any significant resources to run (After they tamed all you need is to feed them once in a while and they wont drop domestication)

- Can be started fast (you can tame them as soon as day 1.)

without the bee queen crown you would most likely aren't going to be find a strong enough sanity aura to be anything noteworthy, most objects that provide a decent sanity aura are either too out of the way (think moon fissures or celestial champion) or are too weak to be impressive. As mentioned earlier in the post tents are probably your best bet for something like this because of the consistency and they don't rely on sanity aura radii.

I know that the post specifically mentions not using the bee queen crown, but the public release of Staying Afloat reintroduced the old-fashioned pre-wendy rework evil flower sanity stations. This time you only need butterflies instead of abigail flowers to create..

Or, if you really want full sanity instantly, you can collect a couple dozen moonblind crows into a 2x2 wall enclosure and use an ice flingomatic to freeze them so you can stand on top of them with a bee queen crown.

If you can upkeep a steady supply of fuel, living logs and yellow gems (Wilsun, ruins regeneration often, DF, sunken chest hunter, etc) you could pop 4-5  regular stars, and a polar star, in the same spot to get about 2 sanity/second.

That is a short term method, as it uses materials.

The point is to have solar power equivalent to sanity.

Just stand in a place, go make tea or chat with friends, and let vibes handle it.

the best sanity station you can make currently is using moon blind crows. You gather a bunch of them, drop on boat, let them aggro towards u and use an ice flingo setup to freeze them all. The more crows the better ofc

If you're willing to throw in the bee queen crown, you can equip it and use an active Umbralla for even more sanity at that station. With that, a scaled furnace, and a polar star, you're going to be good on sanity. You could use two Wickerbottom books per minute and still have your sanity at max.

Is sanity even a problem late game? I would assume everyone is running around with Enlightened Crown, keeping their sanity near max. With near max sanity, just continuing wearing the Enlightened Crown is already sufficient to max sanity.

If your cheapest refers to comprehensive efficiency, Enlightened Crown and sanity food like Banana Shake and Salsa Fresca is likely the cheapest. Banana Shake recovers like 5-10 sanity/second for the time put in. Building sanity stations require construction cost, maintenance cost, startup cost, inventory space, construction space. Especially construction space, introduce base sprawl that expand the base footprint and reduce the overall base efficiency. For the beequeen crown evil flower station, just running in and out of the station, takes about 3 seconds, in addition to the time taken to travel from the player original position to the edge of the sanity station.

Consider your suggestion, just the dwarf star alone, the sanity cost to cast takes up 12.5 seconds of sanity generation from your sanity station, in addition to about 2 second of casting animation. You would then spend inventory space carrying the body sanity equipment and swapping your body equipment. You would likely also have to push glommer into the correct position. The fastest time to refill a sisturn is probably around 5 seconds, multiply that by the number of stations you want to plonk everywhere and by every 24 days, you might even be spending the one entire day out of 24, or about 4% of total time just refuelling sisturn. From your suggested setup, you are already looking at like 20 seconds of startup cost, 2+ additional inventory slots.

Cheapest and strongest do not really go together, maybe only when you classify cheap station as not to your flavour, and strong station as 'cheap'

I think a practical sanity station is to have sisturn on scale turf and a dwarf star/polar star beside the sisturn in the main base. The sisturn is mainly just for abigail to regrow faster while the star is for light.

I haven't played DST in a while and I am just coming back to it with all the new stuff added, how can you make evil flowers spawn at your will I thought it was impossible
