grrr! i can't build a decent boat now!

With the changes made to "deploy spacing", I cannot actually arrange a boat the way I would want. I literally have to put the anchor at least 2 wall units (or half a pitchfork tile) distance away from the edge of the boat in order to be able to place a bumper on the edge. If I place the bumper on first, it's ok. But given I haven't been out to sea yet to collect broken shells (I'm just building my boat after all...), I can't build bumpers yet (without cheat codes). So the anchor is going on first. But alas, if I do, I cannot put it in a reasonable spot to allow for a campfire, endothermic fire, pinchin' winch, crockpot and a fridge, as well as 8 bumpers. And now I also can't have my masts or my campfire and endothermic fire next to the steering wheel because everything is now pushed around because of the weirdness with the anchor. This really has screwed up my happiness with boating--and I thought this patch was supposed to fix boating issues.

I feel you. Placing campfires in boats are the one of the best strats for drying quickly. Really hope they change placement in boats specifically.

Totally agree, even though my boat only lightning rod, fire pit, endo fire pit and pinch winch.

The issue is primarily the bumper placement, even before the placement update you have to put bumpers on a boat before you could place anything else. If they fixed the bumpers everything else would work out fine.

well, the Pinchin' Winch is no longer able to fit just about anywhere, and neither are simple chests.

because the archaic boat has the storage in the center I can't place a firepit there, so I'm finding some kind of sweet spot with using spotlight and a generator to protect from darkness at night and heat during winter, but not being able to burn things or cook is severely annoying and makes me not want to use the archaic boat, even though it's so damn beefy, especially when you kit it out with crab king bumpers. I'll keep trying dammit!

I tried using the nautipilot and having the spotlight or campfire on the following boat, but with malba sail you go TOO FAST for it to keep up with you! It eventually disconnects its basically unusable. So my learnings are: Use slower sail with the archaic boat 

OR don't use archaic boat. Klei please buff the nautipilot item!!

Yeah, it's been a real pain.
And nautopilots are frankly quite terrible so they poorly remedy this.
Bumper placement is a whole 'nother can of worms but I wish that either placement was changed or nautopilots were usable and not a death trap.

Be honest though, considering you have included everything from mini signs to a bird cage: how much would you have liked to fit on the boat but couldn’t?

Boats are abominations

In a klei official server we were a pirate gang of 7 going around the high seas killing all bosses

90% of the content was staying cramped on a boat not moving and not seeing anything

Reminds me of Civ 4 unit stacking mechanic
