As far as I remember, the problem was digging (side view), plowing (the object was missing) It will take time to fix, but we are ready to wait. After all, we have tools that combine a shovel/hoe, so this is a thing that can be done

If for some reason it is hard to solve art/animation issues, it's perfectly fine to just pantomime to give command when holding Merm Tools or holding nothing.

Please klei please, florp.

It occurred to me that if Mudslinger can chop, shred, dig and plow but with zero progress (as he does with damage). But to be honest, the Merm Tools animation is easier to fix

To be fair they could have just buffed/reworked the item as I think the reason it was changed in the first place was for lore consistency.

Why wasting that much efforts for an item that have a good design (i wish we get more items with such cool upsides and downsides instead of just downsides) because some kind of inconsistency?  What inconsistency? Is a magical item that heals you.

Sure, clockworks are machines but they are fueled by magic so would be very nitpicking to nerf in such bad way an item because "souless creatures" instead of simply making the item drain magic or energy or whatever

I dont see klei nerfing wortox because bosses drop multiple souls..

My bad I assumed devs should decide the lore of their own game pretty crazy assumption on my part.

On a side note I always assumed this was because they had a large soul.

I'm glad this wasn't my imagination. I always thought the line was just a bit redundant. Didn't know it was a bugged quote.

i knew about his bug for years but was always to lazy to report it...

well i did report it the day before yesterday and now its fixed lol.

And they can but the shouldnt be surprised if the community, or parts of it, dont like the lore or it affects negatively parts of the game

Something like developing the lore to "wagstaff being wilson 's father" wont affect the gameplay but people would be vocal against such dumb thing and they will, since is their game, decide what to do

Same way tomorrow they can make it so alter is present even at day time since the moon is always in the sky and the constant is flat, you cant hit back shadows because they are ethereal or that a wimpy scientific cant beat a 10 tons creature in melee combat even with an armor made of wood for lore reasons. Will you support such dumb changes because is klei's game and they can do whatever they want?

I can’t lie and say I’m a fan of calling something a bug fix then turning around and reverting said bug fix after player backlash.

To imply that it was a “bug” to begin with means that it could’ve likely been the actual culprit as to why my game lagged out or crashed, bug implies it’s doing something that isn’t intended to be happening.

Im not even a game developer and I know that much.

if it was actually a "bug fix" then it only was a problem with mob tags not being identified properly with the batbat. in which case it wouldn't have likely caused any issues, as its standard practice to have a "default" return value if something isnt registered.

i.e if it cant find the "soulless" tag (i made it up as an example, idk what the actual tag name would be), it instead returns default, which would be it working as intended restoring health.

this is a bug, but it functions more as the tool working when unintended.

it's almost certainly not the cause of any lagging or crashing. if it was, it would be more apparent because it would cause frequent lag spikes or crashing specifically when fighting one of the mobs its not supposed to work against with this weapon specifically.

its entirely possible that the batbat was intended to not work against these mobs at the beginning of the beta, as a change, but it didnt work or wasnt fully implemented, so now its instead a "fix" to the prior change.

I don't think the Merm Tools were removed for balancing, but rather the plethora of art/animation issues they had.

They broke doing every action aside from chopping/mining, so if anything they'd either need to have a lot of extra art done for them, or be reduced to those two specific actions.

This reminded me of the sprites for the void cawl head set. When are they bringing it back? There's even a mod that does it for each survivor I think.

Ironically this is the sort of thing that would happen if the community chooses over the devs

  • Merm Tools can’t be used by players.

WEE-WOO WEE-WOO fun police have arrived!

Thank goodness they removed OP things like low-durability multi-tools! Brb just going to defeat crab king in one day with the help of two trawlers

you can do that faster without them so removing that'd be pointless

I can also juggle plates - I'm probably not going to do that though either, I'm probably fine doing it the method I want to if that's alright with you @grm9? :p

Edit: I also used like 20 merms too, so it was defo faster for me to just keep them contained on the boat and not constantly disappearing beneath the water when the ice breaks, appreciate the suggestion though dude

weren't you trying to bring it up as an example of a broken op thing

I was being sarcastic, sorry if that wasn't evident to you :ugeek:

You're absolutely right Grm9, Happy birthday btw, I hope you had a great day!

The nerf was silently introduced in order to restrict the leech to only mobs that dropped souls. It was definitely an intended change, and has now been reverted in response to player feedback.

there're many people that think that trawlers thing should get patched so

Was it not already patched? They reintroduced Crab King Geysers that absolutely shred your boat if you're using Trawlers to prevent yourself from getting pushed away now.

I did see them to the right-hand side of my boat, and the boat did break a few seconds after the fight, either way though - it was super quick with a good amount of lunar merms, I had like 10 mins before I had to leave to get somewhere so it was more a 'I'll see if its better if I just keep the merms always being able to hit him' and it was fine, kinda cutting it close though I guess but playing as Wurt the boat breaking at the end wasn't the worst thing
