Temperature minimums on build should be removed

I don't think making the minimum temperature of most buildings 15C is a good idea

Basically, it trivializes the difficulty of dealing with cold temperatures, because you can simply rebuild buildings for heat. While at the same time, it makes it harder to play with the new early game content that requires cold temperatures.

My understanding is that clamping new building temperature to 15C-45C is supposed to prevent newbies from accidentally destroying their base with poor material choice.  While I agree preventing dupes from building their bed out of 600C igneous rock is a good idea, the pitfalls of building with cold materials are much smaller.  I don't think the building temperature minimums are worth the unintuitiveness and complications it introduces.

Imagine my confusion trying to build with mercury as refined metal only to see the building melt the moment it is constructed... (Yes.. I tried multiple times not understanding why that happens until it hit me: clamped building temps)

I've stopped playing the beta until it's fixed, or modded.  you literally can't grow pikeapple without fiddling with the temp after building farm tiles, they just immediately die.

While not idea, you can work around this. After you've built the farm tile, put a temp shift plate out of ice underneath. Those do spawn with their low temp and will cool your farm tile down to acceptable levels.

What I find more annoying is when you want to replace your snow tiles with proper stone ones that those also are temp clamped, meaning you suddenly introduce a ton of heat into your base, causing the other ones to melt.

Yes, noticed that as well. Fortunately I had a spacer in place, but still.

I'm still curious is this change wanted because it makes the game harder or easier?

Neither, it just doesn't make sense as a game.  it's a game about thermodynamics and we're in a frozen place and our biggest problem is things we build being magically too hot.
the entire illusion of the world is gone.

Just use planter pots or cool the farm tiles down.

Another alternative would be to make snow a material for farm tiles

Both. On the one hand, you can no longer generate/delete heat by building stuffs, on the other, you'll have an easier time keeping temps the same if you use 'local materials' to make something.
And yes, there's plenty of ways to deal with the generated heat, but the point is we shouldn't have to.

So far my solution with farm tiles is to preemptively place your farm tiles and they will exchange temps to match the surroundings eventually. OR place the farm tiles on top of natural cold tiles and it will get cold quickly that way. I understand the general problem with building stuff that is not ice and snow gets built on higher temps, but at least for farming this shouldnt be a major issue.

It very unintuitive. When we usualyl didnt need temperatures that low it didnt really come up often, but now it comes up and suddenly people are noticing this unintuitive behaviour. I would remove the clamping from both ends tbh. If someone builds stuff out of too hot material at least they will learn to precool it next time, and its a pretty intuitive behaviour (you build outof hot stuff, the building is hot, you build out of cold stuff, the building is cold).

Since scalding is around 180° and building is cappped to 45° coming from high temp I'd do the same for cold temps

So maybe if scolding is at -180° probably buildings spawning at -45° should be fair

Or something like that

This shatters your themodynamic immersion of all things? ONI is as much about thermodynamics as DnD is about history.

oni is about cute little people giving each other high fives, but if I'm trying to survive in the deep cold having it heat up with every building takes away the entire fun of the scenario
