splorange
love using nightberries, I feel bad that Wigfrid and Warly can't utilize them because they feel fairly powerful so I was thinking, maybe a nightberry goodie dish would be really great to have? it'll allow Wigfrid and Warly to eat it and gain the buff, as well as making it storable in the bearger bin. I think an item that is a handful of nightberry candy would be cute Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/157191-nightberry-flavored-candy/ Share on other sites

chirsg
Wigfrid doesn't need nightberries lmao. She's a unit. But warly should get a veggie base dish. It's ok to exclude Wigfrid sometimes. Maxil20
I really hope they do this. Again, I really like the concept, but I can’t see myself using them much without being a crockpot dish, as they spoil fast. I really hope this gets added, especially since you already can use it in the crockpot! Either make it a goodie or come up with a different dish altogether. In her quotes on coffee, she says she prefers it black. Failing that, in vietnam during the war, they had a shortage on milk and had to use egg yolks as a substitute. Wigfrid can eat eggnog, it's natural that she should be able to eat egg coffee. Nightvision isn't something so incredibly precious. There are methods to see in the dark. But something like speedboost is far more valuable than night vision. Wes is better than wigfrid is single player. Waoling
I think they should add 2 Nightberry recipe. One that is made with some meat. And one that is not made with meat. The one not made with meat is like a lesser Glow berry Mousse. While the meat one is even lesser than the lesser one, but give you more health. kroban
Wigfrid shouldn't be able to eat it, her only downside is pretty much a joke now, at this point they should just erase it alongside all of her "eww not meat" quotes lol. And for Warly I think Klei should make it so those berries count as small berries in the mousse recipe, that way it would work as a small alternative to having to search for worms or small berries in cave. Wigfrid’s downside has never been reduced compared to RoG. She’s a RoG character and her downside was designed for that. Does anyone remember RoG? Non-meat crockpot dishes sucked Wigfrid misses out on sanity from cacti etc. (like Warly) She has limited snack-on-the-go capacity (except for monster meat/raw meat because she can “tank” the health/sanity). So she can’t take advantage of banana boons etc. in the ruins from splumonkey unless she crafts crockpots Her downsides in RoG were never, ever made to be major or to lock her out of “content”. Then the other expansions happened: Shipwrecked: no coffee (as if even strict meat-only carnivores would not drink coffee?) Hamlet: no nettles So she turned into a subpar character (SW) and then a pretty miserable character (Hamlet) for lush season. And that was deemed fine (until the last update); it was deemed okay that some characters would be “OP” for certain expansions and others would be lame for them. IMO she can live fine without “goodies” like jellybeans and taffy. But taking away nettles and coffee is a step too far when you consider her upsides. Now since RoG of course she has been buffed with her songs and her spear (and arguably the rest of her skill tree but most of those things are controversial). So the question becomes if, hypothetically, one would get a season-defining item like nettles in DST if her upsides are so good that it warrants locking her out of that? My opinion would be that it should not. Certainly there are characters that have been buffed more than her and have kept the same (completely trivial in the case of Wickerbottom) downsides. I won’t comment specifically on the nightvision fruit since it’s very optional (not an anti-allergen). The point is to push back on this narrative that Wigfrid’s downside has been eliminated. I don't think character meta viability should be what decides that a character should be able to ignore their downside sure she'll be at a disadvantage but that's what makes downsides interesting pushing on despite it. You don't see Walter losing his bee allergy for the bee queen fight or Wormwood suddenly being able to heal from all the newer food types as there's plenty that give a lot of hp. Heck Wurt was never able to eat Warly's wetness immunity dish long before they improved her wetness perks should she have been able to eat that despite it being made from fish and frogs/merms? How about Wickerbottom doesn't her being unable to sleep exclude her from Winter's feast( I've never actually tested this one so I'm honestly asking). chirsg
4 hours ago, abrocator said: So she turned into a subpar character (SW) Wigfrid was the worst character in sw and if all single player expansions are linked (Which it should be for the sake of discussion) she is the worst character in single player because she can't drink coffee. I think every character is able to get 99% damage reduction by stacking armor and all bosses in single player have greatly reduced health pools. As for hounds, the pan flute works properly in single player so you can do pickoffs unlike dst where you need to face them all at the same time. 1 hour ago, Mysterious box said: I don't think character meta viability should be what decides that a character should be able to ignore their downside Why i think this is complicated is because of coffee in shipwrecked. Wigfrid being left out of a speedboost of like +4, not 40%, but +4 or something along those lines was extremely significant. You don't need to fight in this game. You don't need to always have an armor slot to get past day 1000 and you definitely don't need to eat meat for every meal. But what you must do is get from point A to B. Hell, even in combat applications, coffee is so damn important. What value is a damage reduction modifier if you're so fast, you're not even getting hit to begin with? Speed is kind of everything in this game. It's why tusks are priorities on pubs and people rush beefalo. I think Wigfrid missing out on a lot of little plant based things like being able to glow/see in the dark, easy sanity increase by cooking green caps/cactus, and even the temperature altering warly dishes such as dragon salad and gazpacho, that's whatever. She makes up for them in other ways. It's just that things which either leave her behind such as speed boosts in coffee or the damage boost with chaud froid which makes every character a ridiculous fighter can't really be omitted from wigfrid's kit. The speed boost is too much to exclude from any character and if Wigfrid weren't able to eat chaud, that would arguably make her the worst combat character in terms of strict potential. You better believe that if there were an electric rat that were edible that granted a +4 speed boost and wurt couldn't eat it, I'd be arguing the exact same thing. abrocator
1 hour ago, Mysterious box said: You don't see Walter losing his bee allergy for the bee queen fight He was released when BQ already existed. Wigfrid was released for RoG. 1 hour ago, Mysterious box said: or Wormwood suddenly being able to heal from all the newer food types as there's plenty that give a lot of hp. He can still use jellybeans because of the “it’s HP over time not from the dish” technicality. He has other options and even has gotten his own custom healing options. 1 hour ago, Mysterious box said: Heck Wurt was never able to eat Warly's wetness immunity dish long before they improved her wetness perks should she have been able to eat that despite it being made from fish and frogs/merms? There’s less wiggle room for an animal which is just not able to digest meat. 1 hour ago, Mysterious box said: How about Wickerbottom doesn't her being unable to sleep exclude her from Winter's feast( I've never actually tested this one so I'm honestly asking). Valase
You had a reasonable argument until this line: 4 hours ago, abrocator said: Certainly there are characters that have been buffed more than her and have kept the same (completely trivial in the case of Wickerbottom) downsides. Wickerbottom "early" and "mid" game is running around remembering that you cannot spam your books, you cannot produce enough sanity to spam your books and that your sanity dishes are going stale, all of that if you even have enough reeds to make more books. The upside is that you will be drowning in nightmare fuel, the downside is that you need to kill those things in order to be able to go back to do what you wanted with these books. And as my last point, thanks to her stale food penalty, she actually is quite a hungry eater (50 hunger from a meaty stew). so they did keep her the same, but just make every downside more noticeable. Yeah, she can't be put asleep by CC or those pure briliance guards, but then you will realize that CC (³ phase) will cast that thing untill you fall asleep, so you will get blended because you can't outrun that, and that the sleep from the guards stacks, so you will need another item to remove the grogginess, unless you like walking slow forever.
