should winona's teleporter be "late game"?

  1. 1. more specifically, should it require post-rift crafting recipes? the version shown in the rhymes with play stream has the same crafting recipe as the gemerator; so similarly to the sprites, the crafting recipe is presumably a placeholder for the moment.

I own every character in the entire game, and if Wanda and Wortox can teleport all over hell and creation without needing super late game resources to do so, nahhhh Nona is fine, this thread can be locked now. ;) 

(this is a joke post meant to make people laugh, but it’s also my completely valid & very reasonable opinion)

If the teleporter could have been used by anyone I would have said yes, but given the devs have explicitly stated that is not the intention of the teleporter in the stream, I don’t think it’s too impactful for it to be behind pre rift materials.

Considering she can now dismantle all her structures and carry them around, her tp makes for a really nice "combo" to that new mechanic, in like, you could dismantle a set, tp, and quickly build it elsewhere.

Also like Mike said, its not like TPs are some highly expensive late-game mechanic for other characters. Wortox can tp half a map with just some spiders, Wanda is a non-stop spam of tps post mid-game and with 0 cost other than a cd. Even Maxwell with his "mail" can just tp entire bases worth of material in seconds.

So no, I dont think it should be a late game post-rift craft or something like that. IMO it should be as expensive to build as idk, each telepad station costing like 2 gemerators, probably also in the same tier.

Pre rifts, Winona only, early game viable.

I hope its sort of like a 2 sides wormhole she can easily set between two places even esrly in the game, but that it stays limited somehow, as in, not a huge teleporting network, to prevent overshadowing Wanda.

tbh if it works like it used to, that's probably how it'll be, for the most part. Though I wonder if they'll keep the limited range(probably?) 

i think the telepad and winbot should be for every character post-cc rifts and winona should get some new things instead honestly, im kind of disappointed that they're character exclusive when they're a perfect opportunity to add more wobots and better late-game character transportation considering the whole wagstaff junkyard stuff
but since that's most likely not happening it shouldn't be locked to post-rifts, especially when if it were to work like the telebrella it'd have a recurring cost

The thing is, it will make once again winona a switch character. Its really unfair. 
At most she could take you with her (like wanda’s portal) or allow others to operate it somehow but as long as she exists in the shard

its not unfair seeing that she is getting new tools, no one's complaining that other people can use the magician's box
im also suggesting that they become blueprints, so craftable by anyone post-cc, while winona gets other machinery instead

If I'm being honest even if we ignore the skill tree for a moment the ability to pick up and move her inventions and them having a sleep mode is enough for her not to be a pick and swap character plenty of people will love playing her just for the ability to have a mobile machine kit as it makes her far more interesting on it's own.

Obviously, the teleport will be available before the rifts open, taking into account the fact that you will upgrade the skills of the lunar branch. It was mentioned on the stream that the lunar branch is also an engineering branch. Based on this, we can conclude that the main resource for building a teleport may be what we can find at the Wagstaff dump.

But I think it's fair if only Winona can use the teleport. Or if she can also teleport some things placed in the area of the telepad.

I mean tbf Wanda's recipe for teleportation takes at least until winter to start using and assuming you don't need to make a new one for each location you would teleport to Winonas might be far more cost effective but finally unlike Winona her teleportation network is her main gimmick it's abit unfair to say if one has it why not the other to the same degree? It'd kinda be like Klei releasing nurse merms in Wurt's skill tree then making them even easier to mass produce than Webber's spider nurses.

you can get canes from sunken treasures which you can deconstruct into tusks before winter... but either way, what you said is true and i acknowledge such

I still kinda feel weird about us getting a 4th character with teleportation rather than just improving teleportation for everyone.

As it stands Woodie has to give up on 2 major were abilities in order to teleport and it's still further balanced to not step on Wortox and Wanda's toes by not being able to pick where you end up and having it consume a big portion of his meter.

Teleportation is a core ability for Wortox as he doesn't have many and it's time consuming to setup each time.

Teleportation is also Wanda's main ability and it's time gated hard depending on how big of a network you want to setup.

Skill tree abilities are mostly given for free so it feels like unless they're careful they're gonna break the current balance of teleporting hard and upset all parties in this situation.

I know but not only is that very time consuming but it's there's no guarantee you'll get one before winter.
