I think that a system of organization would be established after you've defeated every single boss. This isn't something that would happen on day 1 or even year 1 often enough. And backpack? 3 slots. We really need better storage solutions and there is nothing wrong with what @chirsg suggested. Chests should only cost 1 board in their current state.
