Feedback on the new Fire FX

Recommended Posts

The new fire FX are gorgeous. I think they need some work, though. Just a tad!

Mostly, it's just their loops! I feel like their loop is too obvious and noticeable when put next to the classic fires.
My only other gripe is that despite having a skill to do more damage, the new fire FX for burning objects seems really tame compared to the old one. It feels far less 'on fire' than you'd assume.

Ye, the Controlled Burning animation doesn't pack the same visual punch as the ordinary fire. Maybe a bigger but more intermittent flame would look nicer. The smaller fickle flames look more akin to smoldering. Not sure, though. Maybe smaller flames but more smoke, if the fire is under control as the name suggests.

I agree with the far less "on fire" sentiment, as it feels pretty underwhelming whenever I set a tree or such on fire now. I think it would be nice if the new effect was reserved for mobs to help with visibility, while the old effect can be used for structures and such to keep the "This thing is getting destroyed" feeling.

I prefer the new sfx.

I think its supposed to appear less wild because it is fire that won't spread.  Kinda an odd conflict b/c it means Willow is dealing more damage, but also means less risk of spreading.

I do think sometimes that its a bit tough to see the subtle effect to know if an enemy is still on fire or not - and then I remember its night time and the only reason I can see is because they are my light source so of course they're on fire but I can't really make out the effect as easily.

I agree wholeheartedly from what I've seen this new fire FX, is too weak visually, I guess it gives off that "controlled fire" feeling but only because of how visually pathetic it is.

I feel as though it could use better art, while still being distinct from normal fire.

Ikr, it just feels kind of weak. I would understand if it looked like that if you set a mob on fire cause ya know a log is probably less flammable as opposed to like a spider. But still it looks so weak!
