Could Wendy's old "Abigail does more damage the less health Wendy has" return in Wendy's skilltree?

It'd probably make damage formulas needlessly complex, but its implementation on some level would be cool. Maybe rework it so it  affects the radius of Abigail's attack or something instead.

What we REALLY need is Abigail to get the full suite of Pokemon's friendship mechanics. "Abigail Toughed it out so you wouldn't feel sad." and all that.

Actually, if memory serves correctly, we can partly thank it for Wandas existence!

I'm uncertain if it'll return since I believe it was deemed a bit one sided, with you damaging yourself and staying low to boost her without actively participating much. I remember the devs saying they liked the idea of a glass cannon character and go figure, a while later Wanda shows up.

Although, you never know.

thing is wanda isn't even a glass cannon because her weapon already is better, deals more damage per hit even when young with the only drawback being slower attack speed, the fact that the alarming clock is a whip doesn't help

hopefully wendy gets an actual scaling effect with her health, instead of 'stages' more akin to wolfgang's old mighty form, just that the mighty form was tied to hunger instead of hp.

idk if i want it despite how much i liked the idea. Now she has other tools like shield and bonus damage to wendy for some reason

klei said they already planned skill trees, that isnt something improvised but looking how much weird perks characters have idk what to think

abi should be like old abi but having in Wendy's skill tree perks and via potions the ability give her shield, the damage to players and thr HP sinergy

I feel this is like the Wolfgang lose might on hit where it sounds neat on paper, but isn't good in practice. With Wanda it works because your the one that's actively dealing the damage in contrast with Wendy where it was more like sending out Abigail to fight their targets where you choose to either needlessly risk your life and die or just take care of Abigail. Again, interesting idea but I don't think it fits, even as an optional upgrade.

Maybe they should instead make it "Abigail does an increased damage for a short time based on how much damage you took"

Wendy inherently does not work well with perks like these because she isn't encouraged to join in the fight. If this perk returned Wendy players would just go back to what they did, injure themself then watch Abigail solo things even better than ever. This perk would only really work in a rework that necessitates Wendy joining the fight, such as flipping the petals effect from Abigail giving Wendy more damage to Wendy giving Abigial more damage, with Abigail's damage being lowered accordingly. With how she works right now the perk would just encourage unfun gameplay.

She is though?

With Abigail's vex her damage modifier becomes 1.155x (or 1.54x if you're using a beefalo) instead of 0.75x. Plus, Wendy's often incentivized to tank (or bait and kite) hits for Abby against enemies that would otherwise kill her, such as Dragonfly.

Abigail on her own with no intervention from Wendy can kill almost any non-boss enemy, and Wendy does little to affect the time it takes to kill groups. It's why people were just injuring themselves and letting Abigail do everything, because she can.

I think some flexibility needs to be accounted for too even if a decision is made. We're at a point where unworked characters can very easily be unmade and if no work apart from brainstorming has been initiated. I would hate if a forum member had a universally adored idea in the skill tree but perhaps if a dev already has a post it note on their PC monitor that says "Webber's skill tree makes it so each spider can wear shirts and pants and have nothing else" that made the feature set in stone.

 

I would cry if Wigfrid received no skill perks to grant her very own crafts from brightshade and void materials just because of a company memo that went out months ago.
