DST on Switch is a Horrible Experience in every way

Recommended Posts

When you think of a good Port, what do you think of? Does the game look just as good? That it has all the content? That it is broken? Well, I'm here to talk to you about this last topic... My experience trying to play this crap from "Port" that even the title is too big.

TERRIBLE CHARACTER HANDLING: Can you imagine that a game is in such poor condition that even the mere movement of the character is broken? Well, on Switch it is like that! Your movement records the direction in which you are going for more seconds than necessary, so many times you will have to stop and change direction... It goes so well that to fight it is best to move your character little by little so that you don't start flying in one direction. (This remains in Solitary Offline Worlds!)

IMPOSSIBLE KITTING: Do you like to kill bosses or enemies quickly with just your Skill? Well, prepare to be forced to use hundreds of Helmets and Healing! Since the movement is linked to Kitting! Prepare to die or take damage countless times from Shadows!! Endless fun

Have fun with invisible grid!: Apart from killing enemies and bosses in the game, what else is there to do? Exact! A base... And do you know what happens when you don't have a grid to put structures on? Exact!! Your entire base will be crooked and visually horrible, enjoy the Switch version, there are still things left!

60FPS?: nah, since Klei knew that optimizing a game with 2D objects and a 3D perspective was too difficult to optimize, they decided to limit the game to 30FPS! Enjoy your choppy movement and rough rotation!

Does the Switch have a touch screen??: Klei forgot that with the PS Vita and Wii U, they did implement uses for the touch screen such as managing the Map, Inventory and enlarging or reducing the perspective. Also, who would use touch functions on a touch screen???

Loading Times?: Klei knew that those who like to play DST are all casuals, so they decided that the period between which you load the world is already counting the time! Every time you enter your World or Caves, 2 Minutes will have passed!!

Play in Cooperative with 6 characters??: Klei aware that they do not know how to optimize their game on a console more powerful than a Government Laptop (the latter loads the game better) they decided that the limit of people be 4! And also that the FPS limit is 15, woow!

Lazy Explorer and Wortox Soul broken: Do you like kiting with Wortox and his jump? Do you like jumping parts of the map with Lazy Explorer or Souls? Well no more! Since it is not possible to aim ^^

Taming Beefalo?: Do you like taming one? Well, if you don't use it to attack, you will most likely hit him because even if you have him with a bell and a chair, the character will feel an irrational desire to hit him despite having enemies nearby!! :D

Do you like to have several save for each experience or character?: Well, never again! 5 spaces and ahead.

And do you know what the best thing about the "Port" is? That they know about these obvious, basic and essential problems since it has been in development since 2022 but they prefer to add the content of the other consoles first...

By the way, if you know of more problems that I could have forgotten, comment on it and maybe... just maybe Klei will listen and decide to repair his "Port" mess ^^

I mean, it is a Switch. Can't expect much from it.

Did you turn off lag compensation?

The switch aint the best when it comes to ports, it really depends on who is working on the port. Switch is in the stone age compare to other consoles. One thing is all console ports do have lag, the switch lags the most

Playing DST on switch is the true hardcore mode.

Been trying to introduce my fiancee to DST by playing abit of split screen on switch. And i gotta be honest, switch is a horrible, horrible version of DST for new/casual gamers atleast from our experience. The fact im quite good at the game and my woman is a fast learner allows us to overlook how bad the switch port is. :wilsoalmostangelic:

Most of EVERYTHING you rant about here is present on other consoles as well- you are limited to only 5 save slots, there’s no such thing as “Geometric Placement” (your grid that’s a PC version Mod) Yes the switch does obviously have the lowest player count & most lag.. but that’s because it’s the least powerful console on the market today.

Whats more.. NINTENDO is actually AWARE of this, which is why they were fast to begin development on the Switch 2- Which should (hopefully..) catch Nintendo consoles up to PS5 & Series X/S.

I just wanted to point out that a lot of the things you complain about are “Console” problems and aren’t exclusive to Switch.

I have modified the game on the Switch and if you unlock 60FPS it works pretty well! It is stable, it is limited more than anything by the problem of Input Lag, so that it is less noticeable and yes! In fact, if you don't use Predictive, you will attack even slower and your character will walk even after you stop using the joystick... Disastrous ^^'

The game does not require that much power to run, I use a Laptop with 2Ghz and 4 Ram with garbage specifications and it works better than the Switch Port, it is obvious that the hardware is not the best but I insist, it is not The Witcher 3, Mortal Kombat 11 and still these are better

Pd: In case you didn't know, if you remove the FPS limit the game runs at 60fps fluidly, it is limited because they don't know how to fix the Input Lag... What occurs to me is that they are used to the game running on a hard drive and not on an SD card... Although who knows

Clear! Luckily, if you play with people you can ignore the issue of damage from enemies... What is true is that in Coop the game was optimized so badly that even though you can only go at 60fps if you remove the limit with codes, in Coop It will always go to 15... x.x

It is true that the controls and saves on consoles, that does not mean that it is a tedious problem that is easy to solve, there is literally no argument against adapting the controls and adding save slot

Now, the Switch is capable enough to run DST on Switch without fps problems even without overclocking, so the 30fps limit is a way to "solve" the input lag... And about the controls There is no excuse for touch screens either, it would have been super useful to have it

Don't worry, there will be a Switch 2 next year.

The problem is not power, I better make a post showing that the Switch is capable of running the game at 60fps xd... I have tried it by disabling the fps limit

It's not Switch's fault, it's Klei's fault. They could simply not release DST on the switch. They also released a terrible port for Hamlet on the switch. It was a pity for the money spent

Exact! And also there it was a terrible port, Klei's people refuse to optimize for lower power consoles... In the PS Vita Port for example, as such it is an excellent Port only that when Winter arrived the particles dropped from 60fps to 8fps... And only because they did not reduce the quantity or quality of the snow particles... I think it is a general problem, on PC they have the bad habit of not testing what they add and that is why there is always debate about the contents new xd

Pd: I made a post about dst on switch without the FPS limit, it's ridiculous that they limit it ^^'
