You need caves to craft the deconstruction staff

and how do we deconstruct thulecite if there's no cave for a deconstruction staff?  bit of a oversight in your master plan

I knnoooowwww, I edited the post as soon as I sent it. I gaslit myself into thinking there was another way to obtain the staff.
I'm crying, I thought I figured out some master convoluted plan.

Can't you bypass the need for the pseudo science station with wicker's crafting book or does that not allow ancient items?

We'll see

Told Ya.

Beta might be anytime next week though.. I get the feeling Klei is going to want to really deliver on this one.. I’m hoping we get a new island with new mobs, resources and things to do on it, when’s the last time we had a “Lunar Island” sized update? I’m thinking that’s what’s coming..

But I could totally be wrong too ya never know.

Wortox's souls have more general uses than Wanda's backtrek, being able to ''bank'' an item that can be used for the entire spectrum of game interaction is nice. It can heal, heal the team, restore hunger, I-frame in combat, and traverse the land. It does a little bit of everything, why is it being compared to Wanda's strictly combat-oriented watch?

My shovel can heal too. Soul healing is extremely easy to replace.
Regular food has many advantages over it. Primarily, not needing to be refilled so often, so you can focus on a task that does not involve killing. Especially since a decent amount of teleporting costs upwards to 50+ souls a day already, that you need more just to eat doesn't make it better.
The i-frame is horrid, please just kite lol. Hell even taking an average of 6 hits with a football helmet and then healing with a soul is more profitable unless you're desperately poor on armor.

Pretty much the only good and unique thing souls do is transport. Except even that is neglible if you aren't traversing over the water. It takes my untamed beefalo around 45 seconds to take me all the way Wortox goes after scraping souls for 30 or so seconds. It's just indistinct if not rushing pearl.

I think people are seriously giving Wandas heal too much credit. It has a cooldown, stops if you take damage, she has a constant HP drain, and you need to be at a pretty wealthy state to have a lot of them on top of the other things she needs. At that point, you already have everything you want in the game....so who cares? Not to mention each watch takes up inventory slots, which can be a big deal in a lot of situations.

No we're not. Even a single watch on cooldown grants more forgiveness to everyday scrapes and bruises than butterflies do. And everything you need to get more watches or the alarming clock are dirt cheap, so you can be obnoxiously saturated by day 6 or so. People act like she's difficult or expensive to set up but she's not. The only thing holding her back is whether triple mac spawned or not. If it did your extensive, free teleportation network is born by the first winter. If not it takes two years at most.

What more does Wortox need?  If your argument is essentially ''Well once you've gotten billions of Thulecite and explored a large portion of the game and set up a teleport network and are only really playing on overtime at that point there's no reason to play Wortox when you can just play Wanda!" then I don't really agree.

He doesn't do anything spectacularly advantageously besides babysitting and rushing pearl, except Wickerbottom can be better at that alongside a massive list of other benefits anyway. And Wanda is a better babysitter.

Wortox is only good if you ignore every last thing that can easily substitute for his skills. The advantages are microscopic and I have not missed him at all, which upsets me, because he is my favorite character in terms of design and personality. But he's ass unless you suck at the game.

This more than anything else is why I've always felt Wortox is bad because the entirety of any agruement defending how strong he is starts with "he's good if"

I feel like Wortox becomes alot better if you do shoarline fishing, that is infinite, cheap 0 maintenence fast soul storage. You can also use fish farms since who cares about using measly kelp as bait, or even put in fish morsels if souls is the only thing you want. I need to do a lategame playthrough like this, though i did this before early game and ocean fishing is an excellent and fun source of souls. (You know, Wortox can still eat surf n turf, 30 health and 16 sainity is still good on top of 4 souls from wherever you got the monster meat from, and the 3 fish. )

If you play Wortox, try it. Catching fish is easy and fast, just hold in the reel button and make the bobber go right next to the coast to instantly catch the fish.

It wasn't better than bees when I had a wicker and trident to do it ten times faster and it's not any better with a measly fishing rod.

Do both, use bees for boss fights and fish for general every day use.

Maxwell is good if you want the strongest character in the game.

Why not just use bees for both?

It is a pain to go to your bee boxes with a bugnet and then all the bees try attack you. Bees only drop stingers and sometimes honey, fish drop fish which can be used for strong dishes which Wortox can indeed still eat well.

Uhhh, you catch bees? I just build boxes some distance apart from each other so any part of the map has refilling stations for me.
Then a flingo freezes the bees and I hold F with my default beefalo/war saddle.

I also, don't really eat mortal food, since the enlightened crown completely negates any sanity loss from dusk or souls. Or bone helm which does the same end result but looks attractive.

Yeah i know you can catch bees i wouldn't have mentioned using a bug net. If you need to tp anywhere, you can go to a local fish and bin to quickly get some souls and the ingrediants for surf n turf to save more souls on less healing.

That's not what I meant... Why use a bug net/catch bees if you can go to the local bee station with a ham bat/shield of terror or tamed beefalo to refill?

Also, eh, surf n turf to heal as wortox sounds like an extremely neglible benefit. Doesn't even sound worth walking up to the crockpot circles. I'll just be popping jellybeans long before anything grandoise is set up.

To take them on the go anywhere.
