Great, now my popcorn issue is fixed. If there is no beta today, at very least I can watch you eat your shoe.

The beta for our next update is coming in just a few weeks. I don't have any news on that just yet, but we should have something for you relatively soon.

So we probably aren't getting Beta till next week, but we might get something tomorrow? Probably not, but one can dream.

I hope the skill tree is Wendy & Walter, but I suspect Wendy & Webber or Webber & Walter is more likely.

I just desperately hope Wendy, Webber & Walter get stuck only with the "unique combat perk gets 10% bonus damage v alignment" that Wigfrid & Wolfgang were relegated to.

Why? They aren't OP characters. (Plus Wigfird got elding spear anyway.)

Webber is basically weaker Wurt, and she got a number of new things despite probably already having the most content out of anyone.

Wendy and Walter have been extremely power-crept by other characters and new content.

Why i'm i think it's possible the kids will get stuck with the perk or why i'm concerned about anyone getting the perk?

The latter case its just boring. Alignment perks are the only ones that are regularly gated behind a certain skill level, so they can go crazy in effects by being rift content in a way, see Willows, Wormwoods, Woodies skill tree. So for any character to be stuck with "x gets planar damage" is just really lame.

The former case is because so far every survivor with any sort of unique combat perk has gotten it. 2/3 skill spotlights have had one survivor of the batch stuck with that kind of skill. Sure, maybe they've moved on from that trend, but I won't take it for granted until I see the skill trees.

I would say Bernie counted as a combat perk? Willow got an interesting tree regardless. Wendy ought to have as much. I've heard Abigail being able to haunt and possess stuff as a suggestion.

Wurt also had as much as Webber and more, since king of merms also buffs her personal stats. Being able to personally use certain spider abilities would be handy.

Don't have anyone to compare Walter to, since Wanda, Wickerbottom, and Maxwell haven't gotten their trees yet. Winona had her catapults for ranged attacks, but was a swap character. It's not out of the question he would get some kind of multi-shot ability alongside more ammo effects. Woby item/mob tracking ability?

By my count

Combat Alignment Perk:

  • Wolgang
  • Wigfrid

Creative Alignment Perk:

  • Wilson
  • Woodie
  • Wormwood

Both:

  • Winona (Catapult Ammo & Unique Headgear)
  • Willow (Aligned Bernie & Fire Skill
  • Wurt (Aligned Merms, but actually given unique functions)

That's kinda what makes me nervous though, they all have potential for great skill trees. I just worry it won't be properly capitalized on, particularly Wendy as she's already the most popular character, and thus might be seen as "if it aint broke don't fix," despite still having a lot of unexplored potential.

My bet on Walter aligment is that he will get 2 aligments for slingshot ammo, kind of like what they did with Winona and her planar strike. Something like a shadow ammo doing X special thing and a lunar ammo most likely making aoe explosion like grenades

I'd say Shadow Ammo drops to the ground on impact instead of breaking

Shadow Ammo is an Omni round that inflicts Chill, slows down the target and deals additional damage.

Im guessing either next week or the week after that

I doubt it'll be more than a week because they usually take a break during December. For context, Last Year Willows and Wigfrids skill trees came out end of November. The year before, Maxwells rework came out the 22nd of Nov.

While it is possible they wait till the 20th to start beta, it'd either be a really short beta period or a really late update. + they said "a few weeks" 2 weeks ago. I think next week is the latest reasonable time.

It's probably next thursday. Unless they updated the steam beta release branch thingy.

considering all the hold-ups with xbox and the two big problems they are currently having(loot pools not dropping and the great worm not showing up) i don't think it is reasonable at all to expect a beta. until the current build is stable across all platforms it would be nonsense to start a new beta

Fair enough.

Seems likely at this point.

Willow's and Wigfrid's skill trees were released on 19th of December (beta started 30th of November). All skill spotlight updates were 3 weeks in beta so far. So there is enough time when they release the beta on the 28th of November. Preview should be next week and beta 2 weeks later.

Oh wow, yeah I was looking at the beta release date and was way off. You're probably right then.

I feel like this is more likely to be upgrade for slowdown rounds than it's own round.

They promised skill trees in the next update. I hope 3 full-fledged ones will come out, and not like last time where only one had a normal one, the second had an average one, and the third was recycled.

My Ideal 3 would be Wendy-Walter-Wortox.

Realistically though its Wendy-Walter-Webber.

I just hope if they do do three, they're all fully fleshed out, bc I really don't want another Wolfgang...

Im hoping for wortox. He's fun to play, but ability wise he could use a bump. Some unique craftables might be nice too.

A soul cap of 20 is just so brutal when It's your only effective source of food. Other than that he's in a good spot, but the soul cap is way too strict, when its used for healing, travel and food.

He kind of is in a bad place. his long teleport is bad compared to Wanda, Winona, and a boot. His short range is worse than wigfred, Winona, and a grass raft. Unless you have a woodie or wormwood in the game his heals can be replaced by food. Hes fine early game, but his downsides without anything unique makes him a low to mid pick to me. Im on console, so the teleporting to kite isn't something I'm including as a benefit to him.

No one wants to actually listen but PC version of this game and Console Version are so vastly off balance that it’s like playing two different games.

Willows Fire Mage casting abilities have better placement over Wortox’s soul hops or a console players ability to choose where to place boats.

If they add KB & Mouse Support to console, that would make the game more playable sure… but, at that point- Why didn’t I just buy the game on PC anyway? I’d get to have access to mods, which console version likely will never get.
