Cash Prize CotL SEEDED Fun Run Tournament

Recommended Posts

To celebrate the Cult of the Lamb crossover event, Speedrun.com is hosting a Fun Run Tournament! For those who know how to survive the Summer heat... this might be a fun tournament for "ewe" to partake in.

We proudly present the Sacrificial Antlion Seeded Fun Run Tournament!

PRIZES: $100 for 1st, $50 for 2nd, $25 for 3rd

CHALLENGE: Starting in Summer, sacrifice the Antlion with a devoted witness (the Ewelet Lamb) and a Dark Sword (with the Lamb's Blade Skin) in your possession. So the primary objective is to get the Ewelet and the Dark Sword before killing the Antlion.

SEED: 1692705939

RESTRICTIONS: Be whatever character you want, use the provided seed, and have the Ewelet Lamb Critter AND Lamb's Blade Dark Sword before entering the fight. You can then kill the Antlion by whatever means you desire i.e. Weremoose, Abi, Spiders. Just have the two items with you, then slay away.

DEADLINE: Sept 6th, all video submissions must be entered on or before that date.

Do you have a copy of DST? Do you have the Gem Core mod installed that allows you to input world seeds? THEN YOU COULD WIN!! It's free to enter and since we’re using seeded worlds, you'll get better with each attempt. Here, we’ll even provide you the map clear command to use for your PRACTICE rounds. Official runs must be started with an uncleared map:

for x=-1600,1600,35 do for y=-1600,1600,35 do ThePlayer.player_classified.MapExplorer:RevealArea(x,0,y) end end

For more secret knowledge on how to best survive the Summer heat and sacrifice the Antlion: https://discord.gg/skEgPQxEde

(This is where you have to submit the links to your runs and the Official Rules are on there... so it's a pretty good idea to join the Discord)

YOU CAN SUBMIT AS MANY TIMES AS YOU LIKE... just get them in before the Submission Deadline.

With that said, may the gods of Science and Magic bless your Thermal Stones, and good luck sacrificing the Antlion!

I see no rules about using c_supergodmode and c_gonext

@Cheggf here are the Official Rules.

OFFICIAL RULES:

1. No Mods (except Gem Core for the Seed), client or server
2. No Console Commands
3. No Rollbacks
3. No External Devices to your software or hardware may be used for your advantage, example: an auto clicker
4. Use an NON-WILDERNESS, SEEDED Server, seed provided above.
5. Caves can remain disabled if you don't need them, but if you enable them, you must use the same seed as the surface for the caves.
6. Default World Settings EXCEPT FOR: Summer Start, Turning Hunts and Hunt Surprises to TONS, and Year of the Bunnyman to help get the Steel Wool.
7. You must record your run and provide a link to the full, unedited video. If you STREAM your run, provide a link to the VOD or Highlight. Please state where the run begins if it's a full stream VOD.

Good initiative, but sadly being seeded it means people can play it beforehand

Would've been cooler if timer started at a particular time, and the seed was given only then

I don't really understand what you're saying

@loopuleasa Tournament starts now and runs through the Drops period. This gives everyone about 2 weeks to practice the seed, put together a run, and get it submitted.

2 weeks seemed like a decent amount of time to me, but I'm open to feedback on how to make things run better in the future.

It's just a hunch, but I think people playing it beforehand to strategize how to do it better might just be the point.

This was my line of thinking. First couple of attempts will be rough, but after a few tries people will fly through it... hence a speedrun.

Just not a fan of seeded runs basically, as exploration efficiency and variance is a core part of speed running the game in my book (for example doing it on an official klei server)

Similar to minecraft unseeded runs, I find them more fun and replayable

Cool initiative though for the seeded category

I think familiarizing yourself with the map and strategizing is much more impressive than just getting lucky. And even if the seed was withheld then that would either make it so that only people in a certain timezone can participate, or have the window be so long that it doesn't matter either way because you can still practice on the seed beforehand.

Unsurprising.

I would really appreciate if you refrained from being needlessly rude considering you already came into this thread to ignore what the post said and add nothing of value

And your posts here have all been extremely polite and added a ton to the thread lol

When Walik won the first tournament, I believe he was approaching 1000 attempts for his now infamous Un-nerfed Toadstool WR run. With a seeded tournament, it will be more about learning and streamlining your attempts versus praying to the RNG gods. But basically we're trying something different to see what kind of results it will yield.

Hey everyone, remember to keep your posts polite, on topic and constructive when interacting in the forums. Remember to follow our Guidelines and to not attack other users directly. Thank you for understanding.

@Jakepeng99 I seriously was considering making this a "points collecting" style tournament... and after your comment and one that occurred in the Discord... I feel like I've missed out on a real opportunity.

Maybe on the next Fun Run we'll do a points base system, STAY TUNED!!

@Maxposting Endless servers work, or anything that is NOT Wilderness.

@Baark0 I too thought it would be a grueling pressure cooker... but it was actually pretty fun once you get a little stockpile of grass and nitre. Be sure to grab the grass early as it will wilt after the first couple of days... after that you gotta dig up the dry stuff.

And you can turn up Hunts and Hunt Surprises to TONS which gave me a Ewecus on the first hunt... just had to bring in some Pigmen backup to get the job done.

Overall, it was not as hard as I expected to stay cool since it's a short term world and I could destroy anything and everything without guilt.

Is this a speedrun or an advanced form of torture?

you can actually deconstruct the pillows from the year of the bunnyman event as an alternative (it's allowed)

summer start isnt that bad but ewecus with the allowed settings is 35%
