If im playing Wanda I survive on raw koalefant meat and anything I found on the ground.

If i'm playing as other characters it's the same, but add kelp, it's a good enough filler for crockpots for meatballs and pierogies. Later on I may do a honey farm for taffy, but also honey is busted as a food source so probably not hunting anymore.

But you get a lot of food from day to day activities like clearing spiders or killing bosses.

Lastly, if I'm on a server I'll probably do a pig farm for the pig skin, and that also provides a lot of food.

In my opinion, I think the game has a lot of variety in food sources, but a lot of them aren't as good as others, specially considering the time it takes to set them up (barnacles for example). I don't think Klei should add more food sources, but rebalance the crockpot dishes that we already have to make them all appealing.

- barnacles should be easier to farm/ relocateable

- butter should be easier to obtain

- character favorite foods should be reworked so that all chars have food that gives similar value and is as easy to obtain

- food that give sanity should not drop sanity gain to 0 when food is stale. it should only reduce the value similar to hp and hunger.

I think this is fine as is as they were only meant to be a lore flavor buff besides they only characters with fairly powerful favorite foods is Wolfgang and Walter if I'm not remembering wrong.

I ticked spider nests, but really its any source of monster meat.  Early game this is spiders nests and depth worms, but mid and late this would be hound waves, varg traps, and probably spiders nests still.  Monster meat is a pretty good one for wanda b/c it helps you control your age, lower sanity, and fill your hunger all in one.  They completely replaced blue shrooms for me on Wanda b/c the healing is a non-factor.

For non-Wanda foraging for anything early, with blue mushrooms being top of the list.  When I do settle down I'll relocate some tall birds and kelp.  You can set up a pretty good tallbird farm with the right mix of bunnies and tall birds to automate that too.  Scotch eggs are a super food imo.

Honey can be used by anyone, and I'll invariably get 3-5 hives set up even if they aren't my primary foods.  I also like setting up pig / ghost farms if there is a dev graveyard, or the mosaic one doesn't overlap with meteors.

I like ocean fishing and wish it was better...  When boating and fishing first launched I had a blast launching a boat into the waters and just traveling and living off the sea.  As more inconveniences were added to the ocean I eventually just dropped it entirely.  I'll make a quick boat trip where I need to go (lunar, pearl, salt, etc) but I'm not out there long enough or early game enough to care about food.  At this point I don't think this will change, it will just be a bad past time for people who enjoy inefficient game play :\

Same, it's neat, not really in need of a buff. It also makes some food a decently good option as some characters (i wouldn't say it's overpowerd) like honey nuggets as Woodie or bacon and eggs as Wilson (though that one is arguably one of the best recipes)

As for the "Other" i voted for, i eat merms. Yes even as Wurt, i turn them into kelp and jam. They respawn in half a day.

Wolfgang has an op food. Most others have decent niche foods, or useless ones. Also Walter gaining more hunger from trail mix is not that useful.

Most of the time, I just use monster meat from various sources (primarily spiders) and a filler like kelp, but I do have a boat base playstyle sometimes where I rely more on a mix of monster meat from cookie cutters, ocean fish, and kelp. I would like to see ocean fishing get buffed a little, but more in variety than in quantity. More types of fish to catch or new ways to catch fish, basically. Maybe even size variation for fish that affects how much meat you get, like giving us new ultra-big fish that fight harder, but give double drops.
