Guessing the order of Skill Tree updates

Recommended Posts

So, we know skill trees are coming, and we've now had our first 4 - what do you think will be the order of the rest?

1. I think Winona, Walter and Willow are popular picks for the next set, and I definitely agree they all need a lot of help right now.
2. After that, a monster update might be on the cards - Wurt, Webber and Wortox. Webber's in a better place after the last rework, but wortox could have some interesting skills, and wurt could do with a nice boost too, so handling them all together makes sense to me.
3. I think Wendy, WX and Wigfrid might be up after that - I think wx is going to be a challenge given the cool mechanics of the rework, maybe it will add more circuits or more room/buffs to the existing ones? And to me, that fits in nicely with the way wendy and wigfrid's reworks were designed too, giving lots of buffs for different scenarios - so I feel like it makes sense to handle them together.
4. I think Maxwell and Wicker will be up next. Both very strong, especially out of their reworks, but by this point Klei should have the hang of it knowing what they want to do with the characters. Maxwell will definitely be a Shadow exclusive character, like the opposite of wormwood.
5. Warly and Wanda - Very strong characters in the game. Warly really needs a hand to have more reasons to be an actively played character, and hopefully the skill tree will provide that, but I don't think these characters can be done fairly until the new balance has settled down a bit. Knowing how powerful everyone else is can decide if warly might get a planar boosting meal, or if chaud-froid is still good enough. And Wanda is an incredible character, but it does seem fair to give her some planar boost too the same as wolfgang if the rest of the characters have been brought up enough. She's hard to play at maximum power.
6. Wes. The hardest character to give a skill tree for as hinted at in the Livestream, klei are not too sure what to do for him. Maybe we'll figure it out by the end. (I have seen suggestions of making him an ultimate buffer at personal sacrafice, I like that!)

What do you think, does the order makes sense? What about shadow/lunar exclusives, I can certainly see arguments for a shadow wanda while old or a celestial winona against her sister? Let me know!

I’d like Warly Willow and Walter to share a cooking based one, expand on that weird shared ability to cook with a lighter.

Wendy, Wurt, and Webber would be great for a Halloween one

Wes Wigfrid and Wortox share feasting on souls

Wanda Max and Wicker can share a magic themed one

and WX Winona and Wilson(he has to get Thule skin) can share a science one.

I dont think they ll pick sets of characters based on their theme, basically, no "monster's skill tree" but who knows

This one had a logging theme, I imagine others would have similar videos

willow so that the next skilltree video can be about actually making campfires

wanda purely because she was one of the two characters klei mentioned being 'nerfed' by skill trees

winona cuz nobody plays her and she would fit into a shadow theme the other two would provide (in contrast to the previous skilltree update's more lunar theme)

If we go with that theme Walter and Willow definitely have to be together on it but I'm kinda hard pressed to think of who the third person for campfire safety would be maybe Wickerbottom?

I imagine the scenario would go something like this Walter makes a perfect campfire then Willow tries and over does it lighting everything on fire with finally Wickerbottom showing up at the end extinguishing all the fire.

Or maybe we could go a different way and use Wurt who fails at making a proper campfire, Walter who does it right, and Willow who burns everything down ending the recording.

I hope we get Maxwell’s skill tree next specifically so that it’ll be overpowered and set and standard for how strong the other characters should be so everyone else will get crazy fun skill trees

We'll get it second to last and it'll create such a imbalance that it will introduce a new round of refreshes which will end up the same so we'll have a new round of skill trees this discourse shall keep don't starve together alive forever you see we think we're playing the survivors but they're playing us in a game of 5th dimensional chess.

As a more serious answer now that I've removed my tinfoil hat I don't think they'd do his early for story reasons but I do hope they take a cue from Wolfgang's when they do.

I will find very funny to see that the counterpart to the all mighty king of the shadows is just a plant boi doing funny business.

I think you meant to say that the counterpart to the powerful alien descended straight from the moon is a charlatan in over his head.

From a business perspective it makes the most sense to have no two DLC characters get their major updates at the same time

I imagine at this point in the games life cycle dlc character sales isn't substantial, but I'll stand by this theory

I'm betting on that too, but its good for the players too. If you're short on spools, you can still experience the majority of the content. I'm crossing my fingers for wortox next
