Why are Wolfgang's skills for automatic play and extra points so weak?

Recommended Posts

Как игрок, который много играл на Wolfgang, я говорю, что навыки для получения дополнительных очков и для автоматической игры в настоящее время являются самыми слабыми в игре, в принципе, если брать ветви навыков всех персонажей. Почему именно они это сделали?

Because Wolfgang is already very strong. His skill trees should be weaker than other character's to not make him even stronger

Tbf I really really doubt they're going to respect this rule when they get to Wanda and Maxwell so I can understand them being upset.

No, the aim for characters who are in an okay spot is just to balance their dmg/resistance to this new planar mechanic. We should expect a very similar skill tree for wanda, basically a planar dmg buff and probably % dmg versus shadow/moon aligned mobs while old.

Perhaps a few new watches on the same level of power as wolfgang's new dumbells (so basically just filler) and maybe a gimmicky perk for young wanda like wolf's training whistle.

I could see klei giving her the ability to name backtreck watches for a skill point too, and perhaps a small reduction in cooldown (only by a minute or two)

It's indeed what we should expect but what we should expect and what the community may demand are two different things.

While you are correct (past 5 skill points [all of the insights on crits on mining, chopping, etc, as well as the speed boost in regular form] everything else in the insight skill tree is lackluster) I think it’s for the best. Why? Because Wolfgang is already insanely good in the right hands.

I don’t think it makes sense to make him even stronger. When you break down Wolfgang as a character, he’s a dopey personality who likes to lift, be strong, and get scared. Not exactly easy to expand on, nor does it make sense to.

Except there’s cut concept animations of him being able to bench lift Beefalo.

And even the Animation for the new skill trees shows him bench lifting a fully grown tree.

Wolfgangs gameplay relies on nothing more then killing enemy mobs faster, which is errr.. okay I guess?

But if I could pick up Beefalo and carry them to a new location or rip fully grown trees out the ground and place them in another location, Wolfgang would’ve gained some “Mega-Basing” perks. Which in my opinion wouldn’t have made him too much more OP then he already was/is.

You know that we have beefalo bells and pinecones, right?

Yes, but I want to show my feats of great strength by picking up the Beefalo and carrying it where I want it to be… and I imagine that Wolfgang would benefit from this in several ways:

#1 he doesn’t drain Mightiness while lugging around a heavy object.

& #2 he doesn’t suffer movement speed penalty while moving heavy objects.

So… in short, you would see a Wolfgang walking around with fully grown trees in his arm he can then place back down.

And I get that your just trying to be a jerk and say I don’t need X when Y exists, but… I want to go to Moon Quay, Rip a fully grown Palmtree out the ground and then plant it back down again in my base skipping the whole “put cone in ground wait to grow” phase.

Ah of course yeah instead of cutting down the tree that drops 1 cone only if at max state you are going to take it back to base instead to risk it reverting back to a state that's not usable

I still think Wolfgang's perks could have enabled some divergent playstyles with him, considering his rework gave him some good options as a resource farmer.

They could have expanded more on his "chores" tree. Give him perks that revolve around fishing, boating, hammering, etc.

I'm feeling the opposite here. For me, it seems his planar dmg perk is a bit too strong, giving him spear level damage while weaponless. His other perks on the other hand, make sense to me. coaching whistle gives him a different playstyle, and the chopping/ mining crits also caters to players who want to hybrid him as resource gatherer.

But doesn't it only work on weapons that specifically deal planar damage? So it wouldn't really work while weaponless.

does it? I didnt know that, I thought it applied to all of his melee attacks?

his planar perks increase planar damage only

I know it increases planar dmg, but does it only activate when he uses planar weapons, or does it add planar dmg to like a dark sword?

it INCREASES planar damage, not adds

Which means no planar damage - no bonus

When they get to Maxwell, I will demand to the fullest!;)
