World Customization needs an update

Recommended Posts

This article covers the world customisation. It is the first of a series of article I work on with the goal to cover different areas of the game. The world customization is one of the best and most powerful tool that Klei has done, although it still lacks lot of settings, it would need an update for adding all the missing settings. I tried to list every settings which are currently missing. Don't hesitate to share or react to it. I made a table for illustrating it that you can find here. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kGguRseU0px6k09g4M_kkRHQSBRpSHiC/edit?rtpof=true#gid=1801175964

I just want an increase set piece option. Playing the original don't starve I was always running into SOMETHING yet still excited about it. DST I do get excited still but it seems like I run into way less of them to the point many biomes just don't be excited to explore.

This is barely.. and I mean BARELY scratching the surface of what world Gen settings should be able to do.
if can make the map spawn in branches & loops, I can make the map spawn in a shipwrecked style Archipelago..

Which would actually give more use to boating content, AND since Klei added the Grass Raft (the one you can craft at anytime that doesn’t need prototyping.) you should be able to sail from land mass to land mass.

Theres also several of the games mobs that don’t have toggles for world settings yet, I expected them to come at a later time.. but I believe Klei just forgot about world settings :(

I agree with you, the main continent is far too big and empty. It would need more plants, structures, and mobs. It would be great if Gorge lights, statues, and structures were brought back and randomly generated into set pieces like marble biomes. But it's another subject which is not covered there.

Like the idea but how would inf light be fair (then again inf light is too ez anyways) would have to make the gorge stuff not be overly broken

I think gorge stuff should be brought into the world on a different island. There's too much work that was done to not have it implemented in the base game. It's a crime.

failed survivors option actually does that, though it should be renamed to setpieces

i wish they they can randomize each biome generation .. kinda tired looking at oasis that stuck so far away cus its connected to spider quarry and killer bee biome . those tree if generated together always in same branch .
i kinda want to have biome in random order . maybe oasis stick to pig king ?  to starting biome ? (i found oasis near portal but it cus of looping , not because of connected to branch)
or maybe portal and starting biome not in so "central of map" :p
