goatt
PK => gold nugget Hermit => fishing Rock Den => pets Since we have entered the Era of Skill Trees, let's have an NPC for insights (skill tree points)? What Function? To modify skill trees without swapping characters and to potentially get more points as the game progresses. Backstory? An Observer, who travels across worlds with curiosity for knowledge and secrets, came across The Constant, and discovered the ongoing drama. So he/she decides to stay, investigate and be entertained by what's happening to Gods, lost civilizations, many magics, and those who stumbled upon them. How To Get More Points? I'm thinking that he accepts raid boss loots. Like deerclops eyeball gives 1 point, thick fur 1, dragonfly scale 1, etc. But he only trade each item once per player, no repetition for the same player. Some bosses don't have exclusive loot, there are probably 8 ish points in total. How To Change Skills? IDK. Placeholder. Modification To Current Skill Tree System? Possibly reduce the amount of carried over points, and allow players to get additional server-specific points from The Observer. Anyways, I think it's a good idea to introduce an exciting new NPC, expand the lore a little bit, and make the skill tree system more polished than resetting on character selection screen. I'm just suggestion an NPC, please have the freedom and fun to brainstorm your desired version of NPC. ZelosCharm
I dont know about a new npc but I really think the game needs a way to reset your skill tree since every character is getting one eventually. I know it is intended but resetting your skill tree by using idols feels more like an exploit rather than an intended way to reset your points imo. idols are already cheap , i am well aware but if you are only planning to reset your skill tree and keep playing as the same character , there should be a lower cost option that doesnt boot you back to do character select screen and drops all your items etc. Feels like a workaround for a function that should already be in the game to be honest Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/149429-skill-tree-era-new-npc/#findComment-1650114 Share on other sites

It feels so much like an unintended mechanic that I wouldn't be surprised if it was an oversight at first, then Klei decided to keep it in, either for the convenience of not having to make an actual reset mechanic, or until they implement their desired mechanic. You know that “it is intended” but it feels more like an exploit “than an intended way”? Swapping characters is much more powerful than changing skill points. Calling it an “exploit” is ridiculous. Exploit is used when something from the developers was not intended. Abusing the Celestial portal is intended. Dr. Safety
Watch it be something involving the unnatural portal and people flip out because they have to go to Ooh Ooh Ah Ah Island (that being said, it would be a good excuse to release the remaining skins from the swashbuckler collection) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/149429-skill-tree-era-new-npc/#findComment-1650355 Share on other sites

No. Just because someone change the definition because he likes it doesn't mean it's true. The planet is not flat but round. The correct definition is what I gave you. And for Dragonfly example is exactly what I described you, a cheese. It's intended, yes. It's too strong for the game, yes. That's cheese 100%. Exploit = Something that is not intended from the developers to be in the game. Best example = Old fixed hitbox abuse of Klaus' sack. Cheese = Something that is intended from the developers to be in the game and it is too strong to be true in the game. Best example = Bees to fight Crab King. Like trapping FW in his “I have to return to the Atrium” action/phase and shooting him with Houndius Shootius. You can call it overpowered, cheese or potatoes, the importance lie not in the names, but definitions. The fuelweaver example is a good example as cheese, yes. The same as the panflute where you can "cheese" almost everything in the game. Blocking Klaus with his sack was a 100% exploit and I laugh so hard when people defend it as a "strategy" to then see them vanish like ash when Klei fix it.
