That way there is an actual counter to building there without turning them off. I think it would be cool to design a build around the meteor field with the special meteors and have the support beams helping stop them from breaking the build. If meteors had some type of counter play than just not interacting with them they'd be a much better mechanic, you either have them and you can't build anything in meteor fields but you get infinite boulders, or you don't have them, you can build there but you don't have infinite boulders. And no, pillars shouldn't be the solution... as funny as that would be.
