Deadly Brightshades

Recommended Posts

They spawn in my base, 3 in my grass 3 in my berries, I take care of them after burning through 2 sets of brightshade armor and then a few days later they are all back is this like a permanent infestation?

Use wornwood to plant dragonfruit seeds around Dragonfly magma pools and it will kkill the Deadly Brightshades with fire. So you don't have to worry about them. It is a auito farm. Use  Scalemail to protection.

I thought the brightshades scan randomly for player-placed plants, wouldn't you have to never plant anything again anywhere else to get this effect?

They prioritize farm plots more than replanted plants.

Yeah so you wouldn't be able to farm anything with this method right? Otherwise they might target your food growing plants over the death traps.

Unless Klei updated the game.. Husks don’t burn, which makes sense because they’re literally a Lunar Moon Plant.

You can kite a Two Varglet Hound Wave with a bunch of firehounds to a group of Brightshades & the Brightshades are probably still going to Win.

When you farm the Deadly Brightshades will come after you, but only when you farm, if you don't farm the Deadly Brightshades will still dying in the magma pools.

This farm i got from AleksyPL, it was his idea:

It is a bit weird that you pretty much have to read the code to discover the bounds of the puzzle of managing Brightshade spawns. The information eventually gets shared so it's not a big issue, but I wonder if it's to encourage creativity from player-modders.

Supposedly there will be more types of lunar invaders that will replace some of them, though the current solutions will likely remain relevant.

I don’t really “like” this idea to be honest.. these are alien invaders from another planet but yet they’re dumb enough to spawn near a magma pond and commit suicide, Hundred bucks this eventually gets patched…

Do they have a max cap of how many brightshades exists in the world? Or do they keep spawning endlessly? They are absolutely annoying to deal with.

I am almost considering removing  the rifts on my server

There's no limit. They can spawn as long as there's a valid plant herd to infest on.

I’m just gonna be brutally honest at this point because I feel like a lot of people and I truly do mean A LOT OF PEOPLE have completely forgotten the Nature of what is a Dont Starve Game- Sure… you can turn Rifts off I Guess, if that’s what you REALLY want to do, but I think players have taken the “You can turn it off” features into too much Liberty, what I mean by that is that when you first started playing don’t starve: and you went around mining open Plugged Sinkholes, did you toggle OFF Bats because they became too annoying to deal with Every Night? Or did you learn to simply Work with/against their existence for free batwings, maybe even free attacks on other mobs, and learn to use that bats resources to craft awesome things like the Bat-Bat weapon?

If you toggle Off Lunar Rifts, you also toggle off the only mob that Lunar Rifts spawn that give you Husks, used in creating Brightshade Weapons & Armor- Which right now I suppose it isn’t a big deal…

But the more Planar Defense Mobs Klei adds to the game: the more your gonna need those weapons & armors.

What is the nature of DS game? Looks like you completely forgot to state it explicitly.:wilson_curious:

Don't tell me it's "uncompromising wilderness survival game", what does that even mean?

As for the planar stuff, you kill planar mobs to get items specifically used against them otherwise those new items are just inferior versions of what you have already. It only adds solutions to the challenges it provides, doesn't that remind you of something (ocean)? (Except for the brightshade smasher, that's a good one)

And the planar mobs aren't that difficult to kite anyways, they're powerful merely because armours before the rifts doesn't work against them, and they use some cheap tricks like knocking off the player.

“Uncompromising” doesn’t have to mean it’s the hardest game on the planet.. the nature of what the DS franchise Is/Was- is a Survival Game that puts the Player into a Harsh Wilderness they are tasked with learning how to survive within by working With & Against its mobs, resources, weather and other Dangers that world provides to craft weapons, armors, tools & other useful items that help you survive within this harsh weird world with a Antagonist whom is actively out to try and KILL You any chance they get..

Okay.

my guy.

i completely FULLY agree we need more survival mechanics.

it would be great.

how in the ever.

You mention it in every single post that ever occurs that mentions:

brightshades

pirate monkeys

lunar rifts

shadow rifts

the shadow rift cave ins

base destruction

and megabasers.

It is fine to be passionate about what direction you want the game to head in, however it is frustrating to have a discussion about survival mechanics being nice when your only argument is always “UnForGIviNG”

its pointless its weak and it means nothing dude.

you just want more survival mechanics, thats cool, i want that too.

your way of going about it is extremely frustrating.

there are more players that exist than just us survivalist players.

megabasers

farmers

Speedrunners

boss rushers (not speedrunners just people who like killing bossed early)

pros

noobs

and for your case, people who play on pc instead of console.

Not every discussion needs to involve survival mechanics, and sometimes the survival mechanics need to cater to the other kinds of player

BECAUSE SURVIVAL ISNT WHAT EVERYONE WANTS.

Its cool you want it, some people dont, respect that and stop turning so many discussions into it.

just turn on the uncompromising mod, change some settings to make **** harder, heck pay someone to make a mod for you to turn the whole world into a meteorstorm, it wouldnt be hard i could do it and i have only made like 3 intro games in unity.

recognize its not always about the “survival experience”

You can’t make mods on an Xbox- And sure I could go out and buy a PC to install all these lovely Mods you speak of, Or… Klei can provide some World Presets/Settings that do that for me.

If your going to make an entire game mode around a barely playable “lights out” world setting.. or a “Relaxed” Mode surely you can make a few additional modes that change the behavior of the games mechanics too right?

Cant be too hard to have world options where things actively try to avoid and are Non-Destructive towards your base or world options where those same things can cause damage to your base if you actually want it to do that.. can it?

I suggest keeping grass geckos and grass gators for a stable supply for both resources and make patches of plants as lures for the brightshades to spawn. There's a limit I heard for how many can spawn and exist in the world so use that to your advantage.

B b b buh..

buh uh buh..

bare bare bare…

b-barely…?

BARELY PLAYABLE?

How on earth are you going to complain about the CHALLENGE OF THE GAME if you consider

THE DEFAULT.

BASELINE.

CHALLENGE MODE.

BARELY PLAYABLE?

bro. Go play lights out.

make some presets, you can do that on XBOX.

give yourself:

NO RESOURCES

TURN EVERYTHING OFF.

except for hostile enemies

LOTS. On everything that doesnt give armor and weapons.

and survive.

There you go, brand new challenge preset. Bet you wont survive 20 days your first playthrough. I’m guessing something innocuous like a killer bee finishes you off because you were trying to take a moment to think.

but outside of that.

why are you constantly complaining about the challenge of the game when you dont even consider the baseline challenges of the game easy?

You complain and whine constantly about the lack of challenge.

CHALLENGE YOURSELF.

Dude, everyone disagrees with your hot takes that “the base should be actively sought out and destroyed” and “i set up in a meteorfield for fun”

maybe put two and two together and realize NO ONE WANTS TO PLAY LIKE THAT BUT YOU.

so if no one ever wants to play like that but you, then logically it follows that klei shouldnt update the game in a way that everyone but mikeUA hates.

so it makes sense that you should just make do with world settings.

or just buy a 400 dollar laptop like me, i mean you could just be unable to, not everyone is super fortunate, but at a certain point you gotta realize that this **** doesnt revolve around you or me and that maybe there comes a time when its time to just stop talking.

**** man.
